Explanation of at-Tahiyaat

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani | Thursday, Dec 06, 2007 | Fenton, MI US

[Imam Senad and his associate were discussing:to liman al-jam`, the plural referred to in at-tahiyaat, where we say, as-salaamu `alayna wa `ala `ibadillah as-saliheen? We know the souls were gathered at that time…?]

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani:

A`udhu billahi min ash-shaytaan ir-rajeem

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem

Always in Arabic al-jam` to speak in plural, is out of respect. When we write a letter we say “aamalu an tasilu hadhihi risalat - We hope that this letter will reach you. But in higher respect we say, “naamalu an tasilu hadhihi risalat” [nun] that is for tafkheem, for a more majestic way of expressing. But in this question of in at-tahiyaat, “why is it mentioned in plural?” and there are many different interpretation and explanations.

One of them that I feel is nice to explain is that the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has been asked for Mi’raj, invited for ascension, and in that ascension he was at the level of mushahadah, the level of vision. He was seeing, and he was telling and expressing himself of what hee was of “seeing”. Now when we read today we recite at-tahiyat lillahi was-salawat wat-tayyibaat. Do we see anything? Can you see? [that is why it is called tashahhud]

The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam when he began with tashahhud, he was in state of complete vision, and [saying] “I bear witness!” When you say ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Alla , do you see anything?

Ya Rabbee andhuru, ash-shahid alladhee yara shay asbaha shahidan fa innama naqul nashad.. qad yakoon an nara. Wa lakin la nara shay.

When we declare something we are witnessing something. As in a court when they call you as a witness. If you saw something they call you in, isn’t it? If not why the judge will call you? They send you away.

So the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in his ascension as he was raised in every step he was seeing:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا

Ya ayyuha an-nabiyyu inna arsalnaaka shaahidan wa mubashshiran wa nadheera

O Prophet! Truly We have sent thee as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, and Warner, Al-Ahzab [33:45]

Witness on what? Witness (O Prophet!) on what you saw and what We showed you and shahid on them, witness on them. So Allah called the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam shahid, but not us. That is why our shahada is not real shahada even. Our tawheed is not real tawheed. When people become Muslim they say shahada, they repeat ashhadu an la ilah ill-Allah wa ashhadu anna Muhammad Rasulullah, but that is not the real one. That is imitational.

Ash-shahada al-haqiqiyya indama tash-hadu `ala ma taqool.

The prophet was able to see from his home to Masjid al-Aqsa and from there to qaaba qawsayni and he CAME to teach us good manners in the Divine Presence. So when we say at-tahiyaatu… when he said it he was in the Divine Presence of Allah, “my salutation to Allah,” he said it in a way a tense that there is still a gap that cannot be completely be there in that place, one-to-one, that cannot be. That is why he said, "at-tahiyyatu lillahi,” in third person, was-salawaat, he gave his salam, when you open something you say at-tahiyyaat, the salutation - the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam gave the salutation there; then Allah opened to him the feeling, that “Ya Muhammad! Now send Me salawaat, prayers.” And then what? Wa at-tayyibat. The salutation is opening and then entered the prayers, and then the best of everything.

فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: "إن الله تعالى طيب يحب الطيب،

“Inna Allah ta`ala tayyib wa yuhibb at-tayyib – Allah the Most High is the best and he doest like except the best.”

So when he entered in that presence with that respect it was sent to him that message, “as-salaamu `alayka ayyuhan-nabiyyu - I am sending my salam on you.”

Similarly we are learning that when we do at-tahiyyaat, “adkhul al-buyoota min abwaabiha - Enter the house from the doors.” To imitate the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, in order to reach maqaam at-tawheed, maqaam al-mushaahada, we must follow a certain procedure. We cannot enter the mosque without going through the door. The door to reach the maqaam al-mushaahada is to go through Allah and His Prophet. In order to reach the kalimat at-tashahhud at the end, where we say ashhadu an la ilah ill-Allah wa ashhadu anna Muhammad Rasulullah that means Allah is preparing us to send on us the manifestation of maqaam al-mushahada.

So open the salutation and then send the best and then Allah sends salam on the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam: as-salaamu `alayk ayyuha ’n-nabi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. When He sends salutation to His prophet he sends with it his mercy and blessing and that is for the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and no one can share in that if the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam doesn’t want anyone to share it. That is from the Divine Presence of qaaba qawsayni, at that moment Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh said that at that level, when Allah spoke to the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, “as-salaamu `alayk ayyuha ’n-nabi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,” He sends salutation and He showed him the whole Dhurriyyat Bani Adam, the children, descendants of Adam Alayhissalam, He showed them all to him in that presence and they are all so clean, not one single sin on them, not one single darkness on them. Because souls they are clean and pure. He showed them very clean and He said, "Ya Muhammad! This is from My Mercy: as-salam `alayku ayyuha ’n-nabi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. I am offering you this Ummah as a trust, clean from me. You like to take that?

And the awliya as in interpretation he said, “Of course My Lord, I accept.” And Allah said, “And you give them back to Me as I gave them to you clean.”

At that moment, Allah opened to see their realities to see how much bloodshed they will do when then come to dunya then they appeared all dark.

That is when the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam asked for supporters, mu`ineen. And that is why he heard at that time Sayyidina Abu Bakr’s voice there, in order to feel at ease. And Grandshaykh said, that not only hearing him, but seeing him as well. And he saw Sayyidina `Ali (r), that big lion, and he asked, “who is that?” He said, "That is your cousin `Ali.” And that is why tariqats come from Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r), because they were the only two there at that time.

And so from that secret, Allah gave from Sayyidina Abu Bakr and Sayyidina `Ali (r), Allah gave 124000 saints and they are on footsteps of 124,000 prophets.

As we know in the Tafsir of Surat al-`Araaf, where Sayyidina ibn `Abbas (r) explained that verse:

Wa lamma ja’a Musa li-meeqatina wa kallamahu rabbuhu qaala rabbi arinee andhur ilayka qaala lan taraanee wa laakini unthur ila al-jabali fa ini ’staqarra makaanahu fa sawfa taraanee falamma tajalla rabbuhu li’l-jabali ja`alahu dakkan wa kharra Musa sa`iqan falamma afaaqa qaala subhaanaka tubtu ilayka wa ana awwalu al-mumineen.

When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, He said: "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon thee." Allah said: "By no means canst thou see Me (direct); But look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me." When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust. And Moses fell down in a swoon. When he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to Thee! to Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the first to believe." [7:143]

falama afaaq … when he woke up, Sayyidina Musa Alayhissalam, he saw, as ibn Abbas Radiallahu anhu said, in tafsir Ruh al-Bayan, as soon a he raised his head up, he saw 313 prophets raising their heads and in front of them, Sayyidina Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. They are all making du`a and he saw the rest of the prophets up to 124,000 in sajda.

That is why many people today ask, “Where you got the number of anbiya as 124,000?” Especially some people we don’t want to mention their names. That is from Sayyidina ibn `Abbas Radiallahu anhu, it is not something hidden. That is in tafsir Surat al-`Araaf.

So 124,000 prophet there are 124,000 inheritors, 12400 saints. Awliyaullah.

So the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, as soon as he saw that darkness, whom he accepted pure as he received them, then he said, “Give me mu`eeneen `ala amree - Give me helpers and they are the 124,000 saints. So the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam divided the Ummah on those 124,000 to take care of them until Judgment Day.

So then when that happened the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is answering Allah back, as-salaamu `alayna wa `ala `ibaadillah as-saliheen meaning on himself on Abu Bakr Radiallahu anhu and on the angels present and on the 124,000 saints, and then on `ibaadillah as-saliheen - the souls that You gave in my hand pure, the ones who were present in the from of souls in the presence of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

There the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam gave us first talqeen, the first putting on our tongue to say: ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Allah wa ashhadu an muhammadan Rasulullah, everyone was there saying ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Allah wa ashhadu an muhammadan Rasulullah, Everyone of that Ummah were saying that shahada and that is why as-salaamu `alayna includes the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam himself and Sayyidina Abu Bakr Radiallahu anhu and Sayyidina `Ali (r) and then 124,000 wali and then those who are there in that presence, everyone was there and everyone was witnessing the real tawheed that was happening there in the state of vision. That is one of the meaning that has been described by that by Grandshaykh.

Now for us, when we recite it, it is a completely different way. This is what happened to the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in the Divine Presence. For us when we recite we are preparing to enter, the station of:

قل آن كنتم تحبون الله فأتبعوني يحببكم الله

Qul: In kuntum tuhiboon Allah fatabi`oonee yuhbibkumullah

Say (O Muhammad!): "If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you” Surat Ali-`Imran [3:31]

We have to follow the way of Sayyidina Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and we first open the door by giving greetings to Allah. When we make at-tahiyyaat we must make muraqabah, that we are in the presence of Allah as prayers in the Presence of Allah. So when we say at-tahiyyat [it means] “I am coming to Your Presence, open Your door!” Then He says, “you cannot come to Me without salutation on the Prophet,” so that is why we open by saying as-salamu `alayk ya ayyuha’n-nabi.

So that is why there was a debate between the other Sahaba and ibn Mas`ud Radiallahu anhu, he referred to the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in his absence as-salaamu `alayhi. He said, "In his life he was present and now he is not so we refer to him in the absent form.” That was big debate between the Sahaba and they were saying as-salamu `alayhi [after his passing from this life] and then they said, “no he is present and we say salam to him as present.”

There was big debate, but when you call for him, then he is present.

So the first is greeting to Allah, but Allah is saying, “you cannot come to Me directly but you must go through the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.” That is why harf an-nida, then you call on the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam directly.

Then after that you say as-salamu `alayna, who is it being read on at that time, not at the time the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam recited it? It is on us and on the angels on our shoulders, that is why it comes in plural, salaam on me and on the two angels - that is why it is in plural. You don’t say as-salaamu `alayya, as the Qur'an mentioned about Sayyidina `Isa Alayhissalam.

وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوْمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْعَثُ حَيًّا

As-salamu alayya yawma wulidtu wa yawma amootu wa yawma ub`athu hayya.

"So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"! Maryam [19:33]

… you are mentioning here salaam on yourself and on the two angels that Allah kept with you all the time, moving with you and seeing what you have done and waiting for when you repent from any sins. They are considered partners for you all your life when you say salam on them then they will intercede for you on Judgment Day.

And then as-salamu `alayna wa `ala `ibadillah as-saliheen, as the Prophet encouraged us to pray in jama`at and they are around you when the believers are praying and also even when you pray alone there might be jinn who inhabit house with you and pray with you and there might be angels as well who are for sure `ibadillah as-saliheen.

Then when you do that you fit the verse: idh dhalamoo anfusahum….

Then the salutation on you from the manifestation of ar-Rahman and I am dressing that on you and on the people and angels with you and then you are ready to say shahada ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Allah wa ashhadu anna muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluh.

Now many people say and thy are veiled but if you focus when you say it and focus you will feel a presence and that will raise you up to maqaam al-mushahada, as you do that every time, you will be raised in ever prayer raising five levels and five levels until you …

That is why as-salaat mir`aj l-mu’min – prayer is the ascension of the believer.

That is why salaat in jama`at multiplies the rewards by 28 it goes higher and higher. As you re praying in jama`at it doesn’t raise you only 28 but on everyone praying with you it multiplies with that. If 10 people it is 280 and if 100 people it is 28000. So when you make Allahu Akbar, you make intention “I am praying with all Your angels and with Your Prophet and with all Your prophets and with all the Ummah and with all Your servants.” That is a good intention: “innama al-`amaalu bin-niyyaat - Verily deeds are by intention and to every person is what he intended.”

I remember when Grandshaykh used to pray he would intend Nawaytu'l-arba`een, nawaytu'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu'l-khalwah, nawaytu'l-riyaada, nawaytu's-salook, nawaytu'l-`uzlah lillahi ta`ala fee hadha'l-masjid an usalee muqtadiyyan bi rasulillah mustaqbilan al-ka`batu ’sh-shareef.

He is imam and for example your imam is Mawlana Shaykh but when he is praying his imam is the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam as the Prophet said, I am alive fresh in my grave. So the kabah is there.

Today they say don’t make niyyah, “Allahu Akbar!” and start. Niyyah is known. So they are canceling all these.

They say, “an-niyyatu fi’l-qalb – intention in the heart,” why mention on tongue, that is a bida`.

So that gives you a hint that when you are praying with the imam or by yourself you must know who is your imam really. That is why when we go to Makkah or Madina, he said, pray behind the imam but know whatever he is, there is another imam there. That there is a real imam appointed by Sayyidina Rasulullah but you cannot see him, you see the one appointed by the people.

So you say, “muqtadiyyan li Rasulullah – following the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam of Allah.” He is there. Was he not praying with Sayyidina Musa Alayhissalam when he went on Isra, he said, “I saw Sayyidina Musa Alayhissalam praying in his grave.” Why is the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam not praying in his grave? Is Sayyidina Musa Alayhissalambetter than Sayyidina Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam? So he is praying, “my imam is Sayyidina Muhammad. Innama al-`amaalu bin-niyyaat, Verily all actions are by intentions. Which imam. Is it not better to be praying behind the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam .

We don’t know where is his head and his toes.

One time there was a majdhoob, dervish, you know, and he entered praying in jama`at and as soon as he came he came form back , back and praying behind the imam directly and the imam said “Allahu Akbar” beginning praying and that majdhoob, he gave one big gas, out and he madetuz from his mouth and from his mouth made some sound and took his shoes and left. Everyone was laughing, because behind the imam, when he is doing it and taking his shoes and running. And they caught him and said, “come here.” They brought him to the imam. The Imam said, “why you made fun of the prayer? Why you have passed wind in a big sound?”

He is majdhoob he knows how to do that? He looked at him, and said, “batalati’s-salaat al-musaleen – you ruined the prayer of the people. And now they have to take wudu. You delayed the prayer.” He said, "is it not better than their prayer to be invalid?” The people said, "Now we have to punish him”: Then he said, “why, do you want me to tell them what you were saying when you said Allahu Akbar and entered in the prayer?” The imam said, "no, no, no.” Then the majdhoob said, “No I want to tell them, because you brought me here.” He said, “No, no, no need to tell them, go make wudu and come later to my home.”

Then the majdhoob came to his house, and said, “Are you not ashamed, O imam, that you entered the prayer and you were thinking of my neighbors’ daughter that ‘I would like to marry her.’ Not only that not marry but ‘I would like to sleep with her.’”

But with all that we follow the imam. But the heart that is to Allah. When we pray imam bad thoughts come and go, so Grandshaykh was teaching us the intention, “my imam is the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and adaban from us, our imam is our shaykh and our shaykh is following the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallamand we are in front of Ka`bah.” Then whatever imam is there we are intending to be following the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

So now we go and pray there.

Bi hurmatil Fatiha.

That is good question.

[I have another question, why we do it sitting, not standing since it is such a big thing. Sitting is kind of relaxing, but qiyaam, to me is higher.]

There are things sometime you have to follow procedure. Standing is to prepare yourself for the biggest event, when you are at the door you are standing, when you are invited inside you are sitting. Outside you stand as much as you like.

[so conversation was inside.]

After all protocol has taken place, him and Sayyidina Jibreel Alayhissalam, in every heavens, there, and reaching the level where Jibreel Alayhissalam was not able to continue and then he continue to qaaba qawsayni that is different perspective. That is in complete relaxation. When you come to a house you come standing, not sitting. But when you are in the house the host tells you to sit, not to keep standing. Already you gave respect and now you can relax and address what you want to address.

Like you go in front of a leader. Take for example a king, president or royal crown prince. You don’t remain standing. Especially when there is familiarity and you feel that happiness. So it is a procedure. You stand in respect in order to be able to enter then in position to make salam, to relax and meditate more in order to reach that.

That is why Allah said in Holy Qur'an. Alladheena yadhkuroona Allah… that is first level higher level then the higher level is qu`oodan. Standing - giving respect, “Ya Rabbee open, open!” Then He opens and gives you to feel more relaxed. Then laying on their sides. `Ala junoobihim - Lay on your side. Allah said on sides not on your back.

When you lie, how do they lay you? On side or on the back. They lay you like that [Mawlana lies on side slightly] not on the back [lies on his back.]

Allah said `ala junoobihim.

When you die then where you are laid? The highest level of submission. First level is standing, then when accepted, you sit and then when you are completely submitting that is laying down.

That is why it is sitting, not standing.

So after you pray what you do? After you keep sitting then you take a nap. You lay down. You tell people, “I am tired, I am going to lay down.” That is the last one.

So that is why he said, “If you want to see someone who ‘died before he died’ look at Abu Bakr as-Siddiq.” And he said, "look at another sahabi.”

May Allah give us real submission bihurmati’l-Fatiha.

After Salat adh-Dhuhr

Published in 1325, the publisher Bafaqih al-alawi.

I wont read all but I want to read one thing:

Nara min ath-thuqat … we see from trustworthy people that they brought from an-Najd a huge bida`, and we answered them in a book calledas-Sayf as-Saqeel, the Heavy Sword, and I put in a book a debate between him and an imam of that time, imam al-`Isa al-Uwaysi and shaykh Ahmad explained that debate and more debate from Shaykh `Abdur Rahman al-Ufaliq, titled The Imitators of the Innovators

And I asked him several questions. What are these questions. I am going to quote only one of these questions.

Everything Has a Reason

11-24-2007

A`udhu billah min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi 'r-Rahman i'r-Raheem

Dastoor Ya sayyidee madad.

Ati` Allah wa ati` ar-rasula wa uli’l-amri minkum

Always, Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh emphasized that whatever happens, don’t show anger. Whatever are the circumstances, try to show that you are patient and Haleem; forbearing. Try not to show any sign on your face that you are angry, but keep smiling, because anger is such a very dangerous and bad characteristic that the Prophet (saws) taught the Sahaba how to eliminate it from their lives. Awliyaullah also want the same: to be able to eliminate it from their lives.
If you look at people from their childhood, whether young ones or older ones, you can see anger on any of them; even on a child because that characteristic has been fueled into the parents so that when the child is born he has already been fueled by the food that his father and mother were giving, so he carries those characteristics. Everyone in every generation has that anger so you see that anger going from one generation to another.
The Prophet (saws) said to Abu Bakr, “Al-ghadabu kufr, ya Aba Bakr. Anger is disbelief.” It makes you lose control of what you are doing. You see people fighting with each other and then one stabs the other with a knife. Both are responsible, even the one who is stabbed because if he had a knife he would have stabbed the other one. It is very important to eliminate the anger from our hearts. Awliyaullah say, sometime you have black fly coming on you. You try to push it away the first time. Then it comes on your face and you try to push it a second time and then it comes onto your nose. Then you try to hit it. Then it goes and comes back, circling around you. What do you do at the end? You get angry from a fly; from a black fly…Is it not true? It’s happened to you in your life? Yes. How many times? - Too many times. Then what do you do? You go buy a flyswatter and you are running after the fly to kill it.
It’s happened? How many times? [Too many] Even to the extent that anger is dominating and possessing you. That black fly is not even harming you; it doesn’t bite. We can understand killing something that bites - you have an excuse. You are after something that doesn’t bite, doesn’t do anything, to kill it. That will show you how much anger is controlling your life.
Don’t look at that as something small. No, there is much wisdom in of it. It shows how much we are suffering because of anger.
Everyone has anger; everyone gets angry. That fly doesn’t harm, you but Allah (swt) has created that fly. When you get angry with that fly it is as if you are getting angry with Allah’s (swt) creation. Allah (swt) created all creation in order to keep raising human beings. The creation of all that is around you from nature; trees, rocks, mountains or animals, is for our benefit. All of that has been made for our own benefit.
Allah (swt) made them under our control. Why? - To raise our levels higher. All of them are praising Allah (swt). Allah said that everything is praising Him, wa in min shayin illa yusabihu bi-hamdihi was laakin la tafqahoona tasbeehahum shayin illa yusabihoo bihamdihi. Even you yourself as a human being, even involuntarily, every cell is praising Allah (swt) for sure, because Allah (swt) said that everything is praising Allah (swt). Animals are praising and their praising is being written for human beings.
Grand-Shaykh said it is sunnah to kill a mouse, because it is contagious, it might cause harm, but you have to remember that if the praising of that mouse is going to be written for you. If you finish its life it means that its praising is not coming to you anymore. Even to that extent awliyaullah are very careful. That is why you see that awliyaullah never killed a mouse. But to eliminate the mouse what did they do? They brought their cats. You go see their homes; they are full of cats. They don’t run after the mouse, they let the cat run after the mouse. It is not them. They try not to harm. Allah (swt) gave the mouse to the cat as food.
Today they play with mice, these hamsters. They play with them – they say that is a mouse. But they say no, that is not a mouse. It is a hamster. They changed the name. Others are also mice, so what is the problem with them? Do they bite you? Awliyaullah know the hikmat that they are praising Allah (swt), but because we are angry, out of anger we run after them to kill them; even after the black fly.
Allah (swt) gave all the praises of animals to be written for Ummat an-Nabi (s) for rewards. These trees: they are green trees and every leaf of these trees is praising Allah (swt). When they stop praising Allah (swt) they fall down - they go - they are finished; even the trees. So imagine how many millions and billions of animals are hidden in rocks or in soil or above-ground, and all of them are praising Allah (swt) and it is written to us. Everything that is other than Allah (swt) is his creation, ma siwa Allah Grandshaykh called it.
Allah’s creation means it is His naqsh. It is His imprint; His engraving. He carved them. He engraved them. Everyone that Allah (swt) created from this creation has been created with Allah’s (swt) imprint; His blue print. There is a blueprint for everything that praises Allah (swt). Even a rock has a blueprint.
That is why the Prophet (saws) made prohibited for someone to move a rock from the street with his foot; you must move it with your hand. To remove something from the main road that might make people fall down, is from faith. You remove it with your hand. It is showing disrespect to use your feet. Who created that? Allah’s (swt) imprint, Allah’s (swt) touch is on these rocks. Allah (swt) created them. So when you move it with your feet, you are not respecting that one which is praising Allah (swt). That rock is praising Allah (swt), it is … and if you push it with your feet you are not respecting Allah (swt). If you step on it by mistake it is ok. If you walk on the rocks of the road, it is ok, but if something is in the road, you have to remove it with respect.
Allah (swt) honored us. Who? He honored us. Animals need to eat and humans need to eat. How do animals eat? They have to put their head down to earth. It means they have to reach their food with their mouth. Allah (swt) honored human beings by the food coming to their mouth. That is enough honor to show us how much Allah (swt) loved us and created creation for our safety and our reward. He said more; he said that if anyone gets angry from anything then that anger goes to Allah (swt) and that is disbelief.
Ma asaabatkum min museebatin illa bi idhnillah - No affliction befalls you except by the will or permission of Allah (swt). That means that any affliction which comes to you cannot come without permission. It means that Allah (swt) knows what is coming to you and that is why he sent the Prophet (saws) and other prophets. He did so in order to teach us patience. He is telling us that no problem comes except with permission of Allah (swt). This, perhaps, is to raise your levels.
Many people come and say we have this problem and that problem; that is true. That is why Allah (swt) made awliyaullah to inherit from His Prophet’s (saws) knowledge or inheriting sincerity, that when they make du`a it is accepted. When these people come with their problems they are seeking a vehicle that Allah (swt) will take that difficulty away from them. And Allah (swt) gave that to Sayyidina Muhammad (saws).
Wa law annahum idh dhalamoo anfusahum… when they become oppressors to themselves, when they have a problem, they come to you Ya Muhammad (saws), and you ask on their behalf for Allah (swt) to lift that problem. That means he asked forgiveness for you, and when he asks forgiveness for you it means all your problems will be taken away.
That is inherited by awliyaullah. That is why their visits are important. They can take your burden from you and send it to one who can carry it. You become free from all these burdens.
All these burdens come from anger: Ghadab. That is why, when you are angry with your wife or your wife angry with you, don’t talk. They tell you, “Come, let us discuss the issue.” Don’t discuss the issue. Don’t listen. Don’t debate. Go take shower, prayer 2 rak`ats and make dhikrullah. The other partner should do the same until things cool down.
But they teach you that no, you have to argue. They tell you to argue. They like argument. They tell you to argue to come to a decision; what decision? Anger is going to make a decision? Ok, when you cool down, you will discuss it. No, when you leave the house they run after to make you speak.
“Give me my space; let us solve the problem easily.” !No, we have to discuss it now or I will call the police!”
Eh, call the police. Who are the police? - the two angels on you, right and left. They know who is to be blamed. Allah (swt) knows who is to be blamed, who is bringing issues to fight about under anger. The one who has highest level of anger is contaminating human beings. Why? - Because he got angry at Allah (swt). Why did he get angry? - because Allah (swt) told him to make sajda to Adam. Instead of getting angry at Adam, he got angry at Allah (swt).
Allah (swt) ordered you to do sajda, so do sajda. But when the ghaflah comes it doesn’t know anyone. Even though he was the highest ranking of angels, Allah (swt) cursed him and threw him out, because he was angry at Allah (swt). “I am better than Adam; you created him from clay, and you created me from fire. Fire is better than him. He did not like Allah’s (swt) decision. He was jealous, so jealousy and anger came together fueled each other. If you are jealous you become angry. If your husband or your wife is successful in what he is doing and the other is not so successful the other one gets angry with the first. Then he wants to put everything on him or he wants to put everything on her. So from jealousy people get angry. And Iblees got jealous with Sayyidina Adam and he got angry at Allah (swt). That is why anger is disbelief: because you are not accepting the situation that Allah (swt) put you in. It is very difficult to be patient and forbearing. That is why you have to doYa Haleem 100 times every morning before fajr, standing towards qiblah to make sure you are patient in that day and Allah (swt) will send special angels under that name that will come to make protection for you on that day.
Ask how many people are doing Ya Haleem 100 times every day. There are those Naqshbandis that Mawlana ordered to do it. Are you doing it? You do it? [Sometimes] For that one everyone is saved, especially our brother Khan.
So they said to do Ya Haleem 100 times before qiblah. Allah (swt) will keep you soft all day; he will give you forbearance. Then say Ya Hafeedh 100 times. Are we doing it? Mezian, are you doing it? Ya Hafeedh 100 times will protect you that day from any affliction. Don’t come and complain; go and do that.
People come and complain . Don’t complain; go and do that - 100 times Ya Haleem and 100 times Ya Hafeedh. Do Ya Haleem to protect you from any kind of anger and Ya Hafeedh to protect you from any kind of affliction that is coming from the earth or the skies. If you don’t want to do it is up to you, then you are to be blamed.
Then you can see how your problem will be solved.
I know people who were not doing Ya Haleem and Ya Hafeedh and then began to practice it and their lives changed; they became happier husbands and wives or men and women.
Ya Haleem: Allah said that from every time that you say Ya Haleem, Ya is from two letters and Haleem is from four letters so it is six letters. That means it is six stations. For every time you say “Ya Haleem” Allah (swt) manifests on you from first heaven, the meaning and light of that Beautiful Name. When you mention the second letter, Allah (swt) will manifest to you] from the second heaven what is from that Name: that light that comes from that Name from the second heavens. The third letter you mention from that Name, Allah will manifest to you what comes to that Name from the third heaven; The fourth letter you mention from that Name, Allah will manifest to you what comes from that Name from the fourth heaven; the fifth letter, you mention from that Name, Allah will manifest to you what comes from that Name from the fifth heaven; the sixth letter you mention from that Name, Allah will send that manifestation of that Name from the sixth heavens. You will be reaching the level of seven heavens which is maq`adi sidqin `inda maleekin muqatadir. You will be at the border there. You say Ya Haleem, and you get the manifestation of six different heavens.
Don’t let these words go in one ear and out the other; take them into consideration now. I say Ya Haleem so now I get these six manifestations from different heavens. If you say it a second time, you get six manifestations from a higher heaven, because each one leads to higher station.
Allah created from those letters six angels and as soon as you say Ya Haleem these six angels will be created for you saying Ya Haleem until Judgment Day. And the third time you say Ya Haleem six more angels are created in a different manifestation, a higher manifestation, and they are doing tasbeeh Ya Haleem at a higher level now. Every time it is a manifestation from six heavens and every time it is from a higher level. Every time they are created and their tasabeeh is made for you. If one of these angels will appear the whole universe will collapse from the beauty of that Beautiful Name. So think: 100 times you are mentioning that per day, so 100 times six means that 600 angels every day will be granted to you with a higher manifestation and their praises will be given to you and if you continue that these angels will begin to appear and you begin to visualize them. They will begin to appear depending on the purity of your heart and you will smell them.
If you miss then you have to begin from beginning. You have to go back, because one door opens another door. We cannot give examples like that, but we are obliged; what can we do? If you put these bottles one on the other, they fall, one after another. I didn’t give that one example. One pushes the other and the other pushes the other until they are completely annihilated. So Ya Haleem takes you to complete annihilation in the Divine Presence. That is why awliya ordered Ya Haleem first thing in morning. That will take you to maqaam al-fana.
Don’t say, “I cannot do it.” Do it at any time. If you cannot do it in the morning (although that is the best time, the pin code is in the morning), if you missed it anytime you wake up, make wudu and do Ya Haleem 100 times and then pray Fajr. Then Ya Hafeedh… when you mention, “O Allah, you are the forbearing and protect me. Why it comes second is because Allah (swt) is the one who protects. When you mention his name Ya Hafeedh then Allah will protect from any kind of affliction and he will create six angels from paradise not to be polluted from negative energy and to be protected during that day and their tasbeeh will be written for you. Then you can visualize these angels. There are young kids that have soft pure hearts and they see things. Some say I saw someone light or dark or someone moving around and has jubbah and beard, coming and walking around. These are either saints or angels passing, and children can see them and Allah (swt) gave to those who have soft hears, pure hearts. So Ya Hafeedh will protect us and Ya Haleem will keep you from anger. You tell people to do that and you write it in a book of awraad and they don’t do them. They come instead and say, “We have problems. These two awraad Ya Haleem and Ya Hafeedh, will protect you during the day.
Allah (swt) said the good and the bad are coming by Allah’s (swt) permission. Don’t get upset. Go and do Ya Haleem and Ya Hafeedh. Allah will take that away. There is badness on earth, and there are problems. These are made by human beings from one generation to another by parents that created the sicknesses in their hearts and pass them on to their children. There are problems and to solve them Allah (swt) gave you these name to recite in certain codes. That is why our guide will tell you to recite in this way and in that way in order to take care of your problems.
We wanted to speak about the other from different stations, but inshallah next time.

Explanation of At-Tahiyat

One of them that I feel is nice to explain is that the Prophet (s) has been asked for Mi’raj, invited for ascension, and in that ascension he was at the level of mushahadah, the level of vision. He was seeing, and he was telling and expressing himself of what hee was of “seeing”. Now when we read today we recite at-tahiyat lillahi was-salawat wat-tayyibaat. Do we see anything? Can you see? [that is why it is called tashahhud]

The Prophet (s) when he began with tashahhud, he was in state of complete vision, and [saying] “I bear witness!” When you say ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Alla , do you see anything?

Ya Rabbee andhuru, ash-shahid alladhee yara shay asbaha shahidan fa innama naqul nashad.. qad yakoon an nara. Wa lakin la nara shay.

When we declare something we are witnessing something. As in a court when they call you as a witness. If you saw something they call you in, isn’t it? If not why the judge will call you? They send you away.

So the Prophet (s) in his ascension as he was raised in every step he was seeing:

So Allah called the Prophet (s) shahid, but not us.

That is why he said, "at-tahiyyatu lillahi,” in third person, was-salawaat, he gave his salam, when you open something you say at-tahiyyaat, the salutation - the Prophet (s) gave the salutation there; then Allah opened to him the feeling, that “Ya Muhammad!

Similarly we are learning that when we do at-tahiyyaat, “adkhul al-buyoota min abwaabiha - Enter the house from the doors.” To imitate the Prophet (s), in order to reach maqaam at-tawheed, maqaam al-mushaahada, we must follow a certain procedure.

So open the salutation and then send the best and then Allah sends salam on the Prophet (s): as-salaamu `alayk ayyuha ’n-nabi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. When He sends salutation to His prophet he sends with it his mercy and blessing and that is for the Prophet (s) and no one can share in that if the Prophet (s) doesn’t want anyone to share it. That is from the Divine Presence of qaaba qawsayni, at that moment Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh said that at that level, when Allah spoke to the Prophet (s), “as-salaamu `alayk ayyuha ’n-nabi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,” He sends salutation and He showed him the whole Dhurriyyat Bani Adam, the children, descendants of Adam , He showed them all to him in that presence and they are all so clean, not one single sin on them, not one single darkness on them.

That is when the Prophet (s) asked for supporters, mu`ineen.

When he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to Thee! to Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the first to believe." [7:143]

falama afaaq … when he woke up, Sayyidina Musa , he saw, as ibn Abbas said, in tafsir Ruh al-Bayan, as soon a he raised his head up, he saw 313 prophets raising their heads and in front of them, Sayyidina Muhammad (s). They are all making du`a and he saw the rest of the prophets up to 124,000 in sajda.

That is why many people today ask, “Where you got the number of anbiya as 124,000?” Especially some people we don’t want to mention their names. That is from Sayyidina ibn `Abbas , it is not something hidden. That is in tafsir Surat al-`Araaf.

So 124,000 prophet there are 124,000 inheritors, 12400 saints. Awliyaullah.

So the Prophet (s), as soon as he saw that darkness, whom he accepted pure as he received them, then he said, “Give me mu`eeneen `ala amree - Give me helpers and they are the 124,000 saints. So the Prophet (s) divided the Ummah on those 124,000 to take care of them until Judgment Day.

So then when that happened the Prophet (s) is answering Allah back, as-salaamu `alayna wa `ala `ibaadillah as-saliheen meaning on himself on Abu Bakr and on the angels present and on the 124,000 saints, and then on `ibaadillah as-saliheen - the souls that You gave in my hand pure, the ones who were present in the from of souls in the presence of the Prophet (s).

There the Prophet (s) gave us first talqeen, the first putting on our tongue to say: ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Allah wa ashhadu an muhammadan Rasulullah, everyone was there saying ashhadu an La ilaha ill-Allah wa ashhadu an muhammadan Rasulullah, Everyone of that Ummah were saying that shahada and that is why as-salaamu `alayna includes the Prophet (s) himself and Sayyidina Abu Bakr and Sayyidina `Ali (r) and then 124,000 wali and then those who are there in that presence, everyone was there and everyone was witnessing the real tawheed that was happening there in the state of vision. That is one of the meaning that has been described by that by Grandshaykh.

Now for us, when we recite it, it is a completely different way. This is what happened to the Prophet (s) in the Divine Presence. For us when we recite we are preparing to enter, the station of:

قل آن كنتم تحبون الله فأتبعوني يحببكم الله

Qul: In kuntum tuhiboon Allah fatabi`oonee yuhbibkumullah

Say (O Muhammad!): "If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you” Surat Ali-`Imran [ 3:31 ]

We have to follow the way of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and we first open the door by giving greetings to Allah.

So that is why there was a debate between the other Sahaba and ibn Mas`ud , he referred to the Prophet (s) in his absence as-salaamu `alayhi.

So the first is greeting to Allah, but Allah is saying, “you cannot come to Me directly but you must go through the Prophet (s).” That is why harf an-nida, then you call on the Prophet (s) directly.

Then after that you say as-salamu `alayna, who is it being read on at that time, not at the time the Prophet (s) recited it? It is on us and on the angels on our shoulders, that is why it comes in plural, salaam on me and on the two angels - that is why it is in plural. You don’t say as-salaamu `alayya, as the Qur'an mentioned about Sayyidina `Isa .

Maryam [ 19:33 ]

I remember when Grandshaykh used to pray he would intend Nawaytu'l-arba` een, nawaytu'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu'l-khalwah, nawaytu'l-riyaada, nawaytu's-salook, nawaytu'l-`uzlah lillahi ta`ala fee hadha'l-masjid an usalee muqtadiyyan bi rasulillah mustaqbilan al-ka`batu ’sh-shareef.

He is imam and for example your imam is Mawlana Shaykh but when he is praying his imam is the Prophet (s) as the Prophet said, I am alive fresh in my grave.

So you say, “muqtadiyyan li Rasulullah – following the Prophet (s) of Allah.” He is there. Was he not praying with Sayyidina Musa when he went on Isra, he said, “I saw Sayyidina Musa praying in his grave.” Why is the Prophet (s) not praying in his grave? Is Sayyidina Musa better than Sayyidina Muhammad (s)? So he is praying, “my imam is Sayyidina Muhammad.. Innama al-`amaalu bin-niyyaat, Verily all actions are by intentions. Which imam. Is it not better to be praying behind the Prophet (s) .

We don’t know where is his head and his toes.

One time there was a majdhoob, dervish, you know, and he entered praying in jama`at and as soon as he came he came form back , back and praying behind the imam directly and the imam said “Allahu Akbar” beginning praying and that majdhoob, he gave one big gas, out and he made tuz from his mouth and from his mouth made some sound and took his shoes and left.

When we pray imam bad thoughts come and go, so Grandshaykh was teaching us the intention, “my imam is the Prophet (s) and adaban from us, our imam is our shaykh and our shaykh is following the Prophet (s) and we are in front of Ka`bah.” Then whatever imam is there we are intending to be following the Prophet (s).

After all protocol has taken place, him and Sayyidina Jibreel , in every heavens, there, and reaching the level where Jibreel was not able to continue and then he continue to qaaba qawsayni that is different perspective.

May Allah give us real submission bihurmati’l-Fatiha..

We continue from previous session that wherever there is difficulty there is ease, inna ma` al-`usri yusra. And he confirmed, for sure, inna ma `al `usri yusra that with every difficulty there I ease. So that is giving to us a hint that Allah is saying to us, there will be obstacles, and if you are patient there is a way out of it but that way cannot come unless you are patient. Because he said, that inn ma `al `usri yusra - that with every difficulty there is the possibility of contentment but the condition for that is the manifestation of His Name as-Saboor, you have to be patient. To be patient by tongue is easy but it is when the difficulty comes that the true measure of patiencey is so delicate that Allah swt ordered his angels to see how far you can go with patience.

Look Allah swt is patient with His servants. He provided them with everything and yet they don't obey His commands. He said, "I am going to be patient to the Judgment Day and on that day, don't ask how I am gong to deal with them."

There whoever did an atoms' weight of evil will see it and whoever did an atom's weight of good will see it. [99:7,8]

And then those who did good will receive Paradise and those who did not do good will receive something else, but look: Wa rahmatee wasi`at kulla shay – My Mercy encompasses every thing. “Sabaqat rahmatee `ala ghadabee – My Mercy has overcome My anger.” And still His patience is overcoming and His anger is overcome by His mercy. He is giving permission to the Prophet to use shafa`. With that shafa`, anyone you like send him to Paradise. What do you think the Prophet (s) will do if Allah gives him that authority, he will say “ take everyone inside to Paradise.”

You cannot find that huge mercy anywhere except you find it in Islam. Wherever religion or belief you go, [real] the Islam, that the Prophet (s) brought, the Islam that is not only the form, the structure, but the taste, the spiritual dimension of Islam also, that go both of them together, shows how much we have to struggle in the Way of Allah in order to reach that eternal mercy that Allah will bestow on the Day of Judgment.

He said that patience is calculated, Allah is calculating, by giving order to His angels to measure patience. In the time of imtihaan and shiddah, tests and hardship. So how many kinds of different ones, `inda as-si`ab, in difficulties, `inda al-imtihaan, in the time of tests, and `inda ash-shada'id, in the time of hardships. So hwo many different ones, we counted three. In the time of si`ab, in the time of imtihaan, in the time of hardships.

They are looking at that time at the servant and checking. When these tests are coming on the servant, at that time they send on the servant the blessings of the Names, Dhu 'l-Jalaali wa 'l-Ikraam. SubhanAllah how these two Names are together. What is the meaning. Dhul-Jalal – the one with majestic power. So after you are in difficulties, Allah sends His Majestic Power to shake you.

When you go to someone who is very very serious and you do something wrong, you are afraid In front of that judge, he might take a harsh decision. What do you think of Allah if you have been thru three tests in front of you and then that majestic tajalli comes from His Divine Presence? Huh? Say! You will be afraid and shaking.

Are you the only two awake? So what happened? You are shaking and afraid. There, if you show contentment, [by saying] "O Ya Rabbee, you bestowed on me the tajalli of Jalaal, the majestic tajalli , but Ya Rabbee, I am content with whatever decision You make I am a weak servant." That is the level or station of rida - contentment. Ya Rabbee, I am content with what you have given me. So what Allah said in that Name, Dhu'l-Jalaal, wa 'l-Ikraam. First Jalaal followed by Ikraam. [It means:] "I am going to ikrimik, to give hospitality and generosity to all of you." I am owner of that majestic Attribute which all prophets will shake under it, even Sayyidina Muhammad (s), but don't worry if you were content and patient, I will immediately - after My Name Majestic, is My Name Ikraam, [The Generous,] and I will give favors that you never imagined in your life. If you are content and patient with all the difficulties I am sending you and then I will favor you
with Ikraam."

Not Kareem here but Ikraam. To honor guests here is waajib. "I am honoring you now as my guests. I will honor you and favor you."

So what you think Allah will honored His servants. Is He like us?

You go to visit the shaykh. You go there and you put something in a package, a [bar of ] soap and an incense and present as a gift. Someone else might take a gold coin and present to the shaykh, everyone according to his generosity. The one who took the soap, as he can and the one who took the golden coin, as he can.

So Haabil, when Allah ordered him to make a sacrifice he gave the best of what he had and the other, Caabil, he brought the worst of what he had.

Watlu `layhim nabaa ibnay adama bil-haqqi idh qarraba qurbanan fatuqubbila min ahadihima wa lam yutaqabbal mina al-akhari qaala la-aqtulannaka qa ala innama yataqabbalu Allahu mina al-muttaqeen.

Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to Allah.: It was accepted from one, but not from the other. Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay thee." "Surely," said the former, "(Allah) doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous. [Al-Ma'idah [5:27]

He said that Allah accepted the sacrifice from one and not from the other. The other gave the worst. If he doesn't have anyone [sheep] in good shape, and only has what is in bad shape and then he gave it, that is accepted. But he has good ones and he picked the worst one and gave it. Allah said "no." He said, "O you accepted from my brother and you didn't accept from me."

You see the nature of good and evil. You see that from the beginning from a long time. You do good today you see more coming to you of bad. You see more of the bad than the good.

Your coming here is from the good. Why to come here and drive the long way here? It is a test. You took the difficulties of driving and the hardship of coming and it might be another whip come after it from the suhbat and still you are content, you are happy. So what you think Allah will be with you. [He is] Dhu'l-Jalaal wal-Ikraam. He is going to be favoring you with favors that you cannot count as human being.

We human beings we give ikraam as much as there is respect. As much as gift is big, that is as much as the love is big and as much as the gift is small as much as the love is small. But for a poor person, that is accepted because that is what he can do.

So the level of tranquility is above the level of xxx? When you face a problem do you face it with a smiling face or with a frowning face? We cannot face it with smiling face. A frowning face is not a sign of acceptance. Still you don't do anything but you crush your teeth, you are struggling with the ego, "Shall I fight him or what shall it do?" You are angry; you want to suck him - suck his blood for revenge. So the sign of anger is look at the teeth of the person, is he smiling like that or not?

That is tariqah. That is what awliyaullah are trying to ask their students for them to always be content, "Ya Rabbee it is from You; I am accepting." The one who is content you never see him grinding his teeth. Not at night when he is sleeping; not during the day.

Do you grind your teeth? During the day how many times do you grind your teeth with Abdul Fattah? He is here? So with happiness when you don't grind your teeth and you get angry but you keep smiling it means you are accepting everything and smiling.

So what happened to Haabil? He said, "If you are going to extend your hand to kill me I am not going to extend my hand to kill you." Although Haabil has power to kill him, he said, "I am content, happy. I will go to paradise and you will go to hellfire." Then he killed him. That is from day one, badness. A person with bad temper can kill at anytime. A good person can never kill. To save ourselves from that is to be patient and content with what Allah sends. That is why the sign of that is farah, joy in the face.

That is why Allah said "with every difficulty there is ease." So wait until that comes, don't try to overpass that. If you do that then you are from ash-shaakireen. Then I will open the station of rida'ullah - Allah's Station of satisfaction with His servants. There is a Qasr ar-Rida in Paradise, the Palace of Contentment. Allah will call anyone who was content with me, happy with me in his life, just as he calls the sa'imoon, to ar-Rayyaan. Like He swt calls them in Judgment Day to stand up and enter the door of ar-Rayyaan, only for fasting people. And the Prophet (s) said there is a door for the prayers. Everyone who was praying in dunya, goes thru that door. There is Baab al-zakaat, whoever was giving charity goes through that door. There is the door of fasting; There is the door of hajj.

There are different doors that every mu'min goes thru. So he said that everyone who accepts from Allah swt has to be thankful and Allah said, “wa qaleelun min `ibaadee ash-shakoor - Very few of My servants are going to thank Allah" Do we thank Allah? Do we do 100 x Alhamdulillah do we do 100x shukran lillah. That Palace of Contentment is unique. You cannot find anyone like that. If this whole dunya, not the earth but this whole universe is thrown in that palace the whole galaxies will become like a ring in that palace. Imagine how much Allah swt has prepared for believers.

You struggle in this dunya. Some people come and say, "O I don't have work." "What are you doing?" "Putting groceries on the shelf, cleaning." The other comes and says, "I am not happy, I don't have work." Everyone must have a complaint. It is ok, but if you are patient on that complaint, then you are going to be in that paradise which has that palace, Qasr al-Rida, that if you throw the whole universe in it, it is like a ring. Which is better: to struggle in dunya for 50, 60 years and try be content, and do what you can. Allah is preparing something for you, it is a building He is building for you, one brick upon one brick; every day; one sin comes, one brick falls down, one hasanatan comes, ten bricks come added. That is Allah's generosity.

When you say salawat on the Prophet how many hasanaat is given? It might be 10, but you think it is only one hasanaat. Because it is long: Allahuma salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad might be 10 hasanaat on every letter.

Sayiaat is only one. Hasanaat go up from 10 to 700.

So that Paradise of rida the door of it, its door is called Baab as-Saabireen. The door of the patient. If you miss that door, you cannot find it anymore. That is why you must not miss it. You must always be content with what Allah gave to you. Today is fasting. Let us say we fasted from Thursday to Thursday, Friday is 9 today is 10 in that night Allah bestowed His Mercy on those who are fasting. The first ten days are rahmat. The 2nd ten days are maghfirah, forgiveness and the last 10 days are `itqan min an-naar. We are in the first ten days and it is a mercy and from that mercy in this night, what happened, nushirat as-suhuf, the scrolls are published and printed. The news is published and printed.

Every event or every what is going to take place heavenly spiritually from today is going to make the heart happy on the day of the tenth day. It was given in that night all the trusts that Sayyidina Mahdi Alayhissalam is waiting for it. And it was given for a new era. That era has been confirmed from today and it is going to be increasing more and more to the end of Ramadan. You are going to see from now to the second ten days and today news was given out that events that are going to be seen.

The trusts that are in Topkapi were given to him and it is going to be announced that peace is coming on earth and devils are going to be thrown out and happiness and contentment and over going to fill this earth with that spiritual enlightenment and people are going to be in full ascension with awliyaullah to the levels that they have been assigned in the Day of Promises. Everyone has been assigned a level in the Day of Promises and they are going to be content with it. No one is going to wish they are higher or lower in level. Like jewels on a crown, even though one is more valuable or less valuable than the others, it is has its place. If you take it out of its crown it has its place.

In that night he has been given 12,000 of… the senior of awliyaullah - not normal people - to help him in what he needs to achieve, and he has been given from huge number of group of jinn and from the groups of Budala, Nujaba, Nuqaba, Awtaad, Akhyaar together with Jinn and angels. All of them are ready to send that source of heavenly power to move the hearts of people and to clean the hearts of people and to prepare them to receive that message.

We will see that in the next ten days what will come and then in the last ten days.

Wa min Allah at Tawfiq

Satan has a bridle for you

One saint, Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami, was visiting the grave of the Prophet (saws). He was in Madinat al-munawwara. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala gave him eyes: he can see. These awliyaullah can see; not like with our eyes but like those of bees - they can see at night. These awliya can see these electromagnetic waves; everyone is producing electromagnetic waves. That picture that you see of each other is what you are reflecting to each other: that produces your picture.

He was seeing that, oh, there is Satan walking there. And he had a lot of bridles in his hand. He had many of them…too many. He said, “O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala, that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala cursed you, ya `aduwullah. What are you doing with these?” He said, “I am riding on people in Madina with these bridles, because all of them are angry with each other. Go there and see. Many people go there and fight for nothing. So when anyone has anger, it means that Satan is putting a bridle on them and riding on him or on her. Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami asked, “Who?” Shaytan answered, “Too many. I am putting on the bridle and riding them.”

Sayyidina Bayazid asked, “Do you have one for me?” That is ego coming out. Bayazid is a big saint. Even if you are saint, you have to be humble. Iblees replied, “For you, I don’t need a bridle. I ride without one.” He said, “Allah cursed you, I will show you.”

So after some days it passed and it rained very hard. In those days, there was no sewer for the water. So there, subhanallah, the ground does not absorb the water; it stays on top. It was raining and raining and showering, until it was a flood, reaching the chests of people.

One time I was with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in Mecca in Ka`bah and we were in umrah. We were wearing ihram and we were making tawaaf. We did one round, a second round, a third round, circumambulating the Ka`bah, and Mawlana Shaykh [may Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala give him long life] stopped, and he stopped just past the Hajar al-Aswad. He said, “Ya Rabbee, this is drought here, what is this? We need mercy. We need the manifestation of Allah’s Subhanahu wa Ta`ala Beautiful Names and Attributes from the rain.”

As we said, the association is a manifestation of blessing. So similarly, rain is a blessing; a mercy. He said “Send us a sign - send rain on us.” What? To send rain? The temperature is 140, not a cloud, nothing. I was young at that time. I was thinking, ”How is it going to rain?” People were pushing us as he stopped in the middle. And why did he stop at that particular point? - It was strange. And then he made du`a: “O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala, for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad (saws), rain on us. Shower us.” We began to continue the fourth round, and after about three or four minutes, from out of the blue, you could see all these clouds coming from every side over Mecca, pressing, and building up. Then by the fifth round it began to thunder. Then showers were coming. That was in 1979. There were showers and showers and no one was expecting it. We were in ihram. The water was coming: rising and rising and rising around the Ka`aba, in all
the Haram. It came up to here [shows his hands up to the chest].

It was something surprising: the whole of Mecca stopped. No cars coming and going; people could not move. I am giving the example of what happened with Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami.

Now they are building the sewers but then they could not move. When awliya ask, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala gives. He was speaking in the beginning of the suhbat that the importance of association is the fusion that makes these manifestation to come.

So Abayazid al-Bistami asked, “Do I need one?” He replied, “No, you don’t need one, for I will ride you without one.”

So it was raining, raining, and raining, and when it rains there they cannot move. This was 1000 years ago, so of course the water is going to be higher than today. Then no one could move in Madina. Sayyidina Bayazid was standing on a higher side and water was moving between the houses in the streets. There was one old man who wanted to cross from one side to another. He had a stick in his hand and he was humpbacked, kyphosis. Abayazid came to that old man and asked him, “Do you need help?” He answered, “Of course.” “I can carry you.” So he carried him to the other side. When he came to other side, he asked, “Can I get down?” He said, “Of course.” Then he looked at Bayazid and asked him, “Didn’t I tell you I will ride you without bridle?”

So, when ego comes, anger comes, and everything is finished. You lose everything; you forget everythin

Are you alarmed against intruders?

Alhamdulillah, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala made Muslims to meet at least once a week. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala wanted them to meet five times a day, but because of dunya issues, Muslims, alhamdulillah, meet once a week for fellowship. They come together as they might have issues that concern them. But the most important thing in our lives (many people might look into it, but not in enough depth) is that we have to be alarmed.

We were passing by here and I saw a bulletin board on which was written “Be alarmed!” … with (or be very alarmed), written underneath.

That has huge meaning. We are looking for companies to get alarms to be armed from burglars, but we are forgetting that we have a bigger world that has to be armed. We have a universe that has to be armed. Don’t look too far for the universe that has to be armed…You are a huge universe by yourself.

If you want to count how many cells are in your body (and each is a factory) they estimate that there are 3 trillion cells.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala warns us to be alarmed - that not everything in this life is for entertaining ourselves. This is not only doing five prayers, as many people who do the obligations think that that is enough. That is part of the religion, but the other two thirds are the state of iman and the state of ihsan, according to the famous hadith of Sayyidina Jibreel Alayhissalam and Sayyidina `Umar (r). Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala wants us to be alarmed. He sent His Messenger to alarm us - to wire us. Everything that Sayyidina Muhammad (saws) has mentioned has wires: wires that are connected together in a certain way so that if there is one problem the system will shut down.

These companies, when they come and arm your house, watch for even one problem and when they see one, they call you and say “Oh, there is problem in that room.”

So what do you think? Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala has put all these devices on us; put angels to monitor us. What are you going to say? Are you going to lie?

You cannot lie. You cannot dare to say “No, this is wrong.”

When the fuse burns, the whole system will break down.

It’s so very simple - one step towards shaytan and our whole system shuts down and we follow shaytan. It is very simple and very easy. You check yourself: all of us are like that. We are one moment falling into the trap of shaytan and our whole system shuts down. Like Sayyidina Adam - are you better than Sayyidina Adam? Sayyidina Adam is the father of every human being and Sayiddia Hawa is the mother of every human being. Iblees came and gave him one short circuit and he and his wife ate from the forbidden fruit. He was a prophet. We are not prophets, we are not companions of prophets, we are not imams, nor are we awliya. We are normal human beings.

That means that if Sayyidina Adam’s system shut down, then our system will surely shut down with even a very small problem.

He was already in Paradise and because of the shutdown he was sent to Earth. We are already on Earth. That shows how far we are from what Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala wants us to do… we must not say we are so close because we are praying our prayers. “la tumaninu…”- We, O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala, are doing this for you.” No, it is not from you. Hasanat are from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala. Bad is from us. Who is bringing us to here?

“Fa talaqa adam bi kalamaatin fa taaba ilahy.” He learned to say, “O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala, what is good is from you and what is bad is from us.”

Today we are trying to give advice to people but we are not following the advice ourselves.

How many of us try to speak of the goodness of Islam - Islam is this and Islam is that - but we are not applying it to ourselves. To make a bigger mosque some organizations receive 50 million dollars: to do what ...To do more dawah? Allahu Akbar - that is the problem today. It is a business with salaries, with an office.

Did you see Prophet (saws) collect 50 million dollars and give it to sahaba to build businesses and buildings?

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala gave a remedy for everything. Prophet (saws) gave medicine for everything. And the best medicine is what the Prophet (saws) mentioned to us. What he said is what will make things easy for you.

How many are following their egos? Everyone except Sayyidina Muhammad (saws). And we know that Jibreel came to take the place of shaytan. All except Sayyidina Muhammad (saws) have that place of Shaytan in their hearts. Prophet (saws) said, “I have made shaytan to become a Muslim. No one can do that except Sayyidina Muhammad (saws).

But we have an opening from the Holy Qur’an in order that they can save themselves from many problems.

I will give an example of that which many people might not be aware which was used a long time ago and people today are dropping it from their studies or from their knowledge.

From `Ali (r) , Prophet (saws) said, when he was asked about the importance of Surat al-Fatiha; “People have to know something important for their lives in order to help themselves”- “Attbi`a as-sayyiat al-hasanaat” – “Follow something bad with something good.” It will erase it, and Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala will forgive you. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala gave us many things in the Holy Qur’an which will help us through all these wires we were speaking about - things that will enable us to be armed…There is an alarm in your mind that will pick it up. Sayyidina `Ali (r) was asked about the importance of Surat al-Fatiha concerning any problem we have. He said, “The Prophet (saws) told us that it was revealed from a treasure under the throne. It was picked up and given to human beings by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala and that is why it is called ‘Umm al-Kitab’: because it has everything in it. Sahaba used to use it for healing people
from sickness. Because when you are ill, your whole body is sick and all the alarms are going out… and ad-Daylami, brought out from `Umran ibn Husayn said, that “For any servant who recites al-Fatiha and al-Kursee in his home no harm will afflict him in his house - morning or evening - from eye of an ins (human) and eye of a jinn (meaning eye of jealousy and envy).”

Because envy and jealousy are polluting everything we do when we move about in our homes and outside.

The Prophet (saws) said that anyone who recites al-Fatiha and al-Kursee will not get harmed by the jealousy of Shaytan nor of ins from their jealousy. They cannot come and make you do something wrong. Shaytan knows your alarms are on today and he cannot come against you. Look how much Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala loves his servants - how he gives what they need in dunya in order to be good servants.

Wa akhraja al-Ubay wa al-Hasan hadith says that the Prophet (saws) said, “For whoever recites al-Fatiha it is as if he recited the Tawrat and Injeel and Zaboor and Qur’an.”

For whoever recites al-Fatiha one time or two, ten times or one hundred, or even ten thousand, it is up to you, it is as if you read the Tawrat and Bible and the Psalms and the Qur’an. That is for reading al-Fatiha: as if he had read the four books.

There are secrets of the Qur’an: Yasin is the heart of the Qur’an and the heart of Yasin is al-Fatiha. So what is an easy task that many people are not aware of? I see and we all see, but in some cultures you learn things that you don’t learn in other cultures. In the Middle Eastern countries, especially where there is… I don’t say that but there are ways that you are raised with it when you are young: that after every du’a or after every prayer we recite Surat al-Fatiha. In many countries you don’t see that amongst the Muslims. When they make du’a they wrap with salawat on Prophet (saws) and they wrap with subhana rabbika rabbi’l-`izaati ama yasifoon. Wa salamun ala’l-mursaleen… but they don’t recite al-Fatiha. You have to recite al-Fatiha - as it is like reciting the four books.

These things are like the alarm system. If you have a problem, make wudu and pray two raka`ats and recite Surat al-Fatiha. How many of us today are sinning when we drive down the road? What is the easiest sin we are committing - looking. You have to look. It is becoming usual for so many people. Oh, it’s ok. Man or woman. Men say, “O, beautiful woman.” Women say, “O, handsome man.” Both are falling in sin. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala said, “Follow up the sin with an istighfar - that will waive it.”

“Qala qara rasulullah fatihat al-kitab thumma qaal” that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala said, “y’abna adam, anzaltu alaykum saba` ayaatin, three of them are to me, and three of them to you and one of them is between me and you. Look how Allah’s Subhanahu wa Ta`ala love is to human beings that he gave three to himself and three to us and then the last he shared and said, “I shared it.”

“The one that is for me is ‘alhamdulillahi rabbil-`alameen, ar-rahman ir-raheem, maliki yawmi’d-deen’, what is for you is: ‘ihdina as-sirat al-mustaqeem sirat alladheena ana`mata alayhim ghayril maghdoobi `alayheem wa la daleen’, and the one between me and you is the ‘iyyaka na`budu wa iyyaka nasta’een’ - we are worshipping and you are supporting. So Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala didn’t just take for himself but he gave to us as well - this for us and this for me. What can we say about His love to His servants? We cannot say sharing but we can say His love.

One verse is from us asking and from him accepting. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala forgive us.

In Salat al-Jummah we don’t recite al-Fatiha [in du`a] but in normal du`a we do: it is better.
