Tafsir of Surat an-naba’ Surat 78 of The Holy Quran

Allah sent that verse at a time when the Quraysh were questioning the Prophet, asking if there really is a judgment day.
`Ama yatasa’aloon –
described “on what” are they disputing? Allah is telling them “You are disputing with Me?” Telling His Prophet(s), “Are they My enemy? What I say has to happen. What they say means nothing” - “are they questioning the greatest news, about which they cannot agree?” It means, that Allah is addressing the people, “O people of Makkah, about what are you asking and questioning - on the resurrection of human beings another time? You think it is a big issue, but I am going to specify for you and classify for you, things you can never imagine, that I created with My Greatness. Why are you disagreeing? That on which you disagree I am going to show you very soon. Are you disagreeing on the greatest news which exceeds the circle of your mind?”

As the knowledge of akhira cannot be conscribed by the mind, it cannot be understood by the intellect. It cannot be understood in terms of physical form. It can only be understood in one way – through spiritual power. That is why for them, who were seeing nothing in front of them but idols that they had made with their hands, physicality was the limit of what their minds could encompass. The mind cannot conceive that which it is unaware of.

Today the scientists, or these Darwin theorists, whose theories we have refuted many times, cannot understand anything outside their physical understanding of the mind. So any thing outside the physical understanding of the mind is impossible for them to understand. (Repetition)

How then did Allah make us understand? The heart is related to spirituality and the mind to physicality. Through that which is related to the heart and to spirituality – you can understand the great news that is about to transpire. Allah is explaining to them. He described in the question, “On what are they disputing?” On the Day of Judgment – how did he describe it?
“An-naba al-adheem” –
– The great news. Why is it great? It is great in showing the qudra of Allah swt. To bring back every human being, as the Prophet (s) said, from the smallest piece of the backbone, the tiny piece of the sacrum which carries the living secret, that when it comes in the Judgment Day, according to the hadith of Prophet (s), when Allah showers the dunya with a special rain, every drop of rain knows to which has its sacrum piece and it goes to it and immediately a human being appears.

That is great news that is going to happen on Judgment Day. That no one can understand. Now 6 billion are living on earth, and they are asking where will these 6 billion people fit? What do you think that all these people from Adam as up to today on the Day of Judgment, Yawm al-mahshar, all people will be brought back on earth? How can they fit? Will they fit? Yes they will fit by Allah’s qudra. That is the great news - that is incomprehensible.
“Wal arda madadnaaha”
– We extended the earth. “Mad al ard”. We made it as you see it, flat. We are coming to that explanation.

That is bringing out that physicality. Even greater than that is their judgment. Allah telling them the biggest news for you is that you are going to see “whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” after I bring you back, even Prophet will be trembling at that moment, even angels will tremble at that moment.

Today they are so arrogant. Look at them - they never tremble any more. Today they caught the biggest drug king in Colombia. They arrested him. How was he sitting in that police car? Humiliated? Handcuffed? Why – because he did something wrong. Be what you want to be. You could be the wealthiest person here in dunya. Do something wrong and Allah will judge you in akhira. So it is better to be humble and to lower yourself to your Lord. Do not be arrogant; do not forget Him. If you forget Him, He will forget you there. Although he will forgive you with His mercy in the end, but that is after you experience that trembling. You will be humbled, humiliated in that day, though you did your obligations, but you did not run to serve Allah.
“Alladhee hum feehee mukhtalifoon - kalla saya`lamoon”
– they are going to know about it. They said to Prophet,
“in hiya illa hayatana ad-dunya nuhee wa numeet.”
No it is not correct. It is not like that. Qur’an applies today, as it did before.

They said humans came from monkeys. They say from fish to dinosaurs, then… what happened with the dinosaurs? They disappeared. What happened? Did they become monkeys? Why are the monkeys not producing humans anymore? Or are humans now producing monkeys?
“Wa ma nahnu bi mabu`theen”
– “and we will not be brought forth from the graves.” That is by faith. That is why one of the arkaan (pillars) of faith is al-imanu bil-ghaib – belief in the Unseen. There is nothing else. The Prophet came with his message and you believe in that message. You believe with iman. Can you believe by means of something else?
Qur’an in Surat al-Baqara describes the believers as: “alladheena yu'minoona bil-ghaybi wa yuqeemoona as-salaata wa min maa razaqnaahum yunfiqoon.” Because they believe in the unseen, they begin to pray, they believe in Allah, they believe in Prophet, then they begin to pray. Then they begin to spend from what Allah provided them. They have to give in the way of Allah, it is not only money, it is your body, your self. In addition to salaat al-wajibaa, you do naafila. In addition to the fast of Ramadan, fast voluntarily on other days. Give in the way of Allah. Anything you give in Allah’s way is infaaq.
I like to bring that hadith to show how much love the Prophet had for his ummah and particularly for the last of his ummah.

It is a long hadith in Bukhari’s Tarikh and Hakim mentioned it and it is quoted in ad-Durr al-Manthur of as-Suyuti, narrated from Abi Juma al-Ansari, who said to the Prophet (s), “Is there any people greater than us in reward? We believed in you and followed you.” [You never expect the answer to this!] The Prophet (s) said, “What prevented you from that when the Prophet of Allah is between you and the revelation is coming from heavens by means of Jibril. [Of course you will believe, don’t think it so huge]. “but – a group of people coming after me, a book will come to them between two covers [the Qur’an] they believe in it and act according to its commands; they are greater than you in reward.”

This is showing that iman bil-ghaib is important. That is what we need today. Today, as we are getting further from Prophet (s), from the Sahaba, from Tabi`een, they are believing without seeing. You cannot limit the greatness of Allah swt to what your mind can grasp. You cannot dispute, because the mind is limited in understanding what Allah wants us to understand.

How are we going to believe in what is going to happen, when Prophet is telling them “No, there is coming a day, which is the resurrection, there is no extinction on that day, but there is everlasting life – either in paradise or in hell.” It is finished at that time - qudia. “Whoever did an atoms weight of good sees it and whoever does an atoms weight of evil will see it.’

In a spiritual interpretation of this verse,
‘Amma yatasa’aloon an-naba al-adheem …”
Why is your ego trying to disturb your spirituality? Ego can never understand the knowledge, the enlightenment of the spirit. It only runs after desires, the bad desires of the ego. It is never going to understand the resurrection the rejuvenation of the heart. That will come one day, if one follows the guidance and the tradition of Sayyidina Muhammad it will be rejuvenated and brought to the Divine Presence. O Believers, do not let your ego play with you and dupe you, telling you to do only your obligations, and to forget about the nawaafil, the supererogatory worship, the sunan an-nabi, according to the Tradition of the Prophet (s). Why was the Prophet practicing nawaafil? Because it is through nawaafil that Allah loves you. Allah is saying in the Hadith qudsi, “My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it.”

Indeed they will come to know! – It means that there is coming a day, verse 4.
“Thumma kallaa saya`lamoon.”
Verily, they will soon come to know.” It means that there is no escape for them from knowing that this is going to happen. When that happens, the Day of Resurrection, qiyama, will take place.
“Thumma kallaa saya`lamoon.”
First kallaa is repeated another time. It is mentioned twice… why? The first one refers to the day of judgment that is coming. They are going to see it. Then “thumma kallaa saya`lamoon”, the second one is preceded by thumma which is stretching that experience out. They are going to be stretched at that time. People are going to see what they never expected to see. They are going to live a period of time there, in which reality is revealed to them, before entering Paradise or Hell. When the day of death comes, there is a stretched period of time, an interregnum, a longer time for them now. That is why the grave is a paradise or ditch of fire. [hadith]

Death is the day when you come to know. After that day on judgment is the 2nd one.
Then the other explanation is the opposite. They are going to see Allah’s sign. Kuffaar will see heavy signs. And Muslims will be sent to paradise by shafa`a` of Prophet (s).
Or another explanation they will come to know the haqiqat of the resurrection and they are going to know that they accepted the Prophet or they are going to see the punishment for not believing in Prophet (s).

“Did we not make the earth as a wide expanse?” Mihadan – mahad, made it flat. Look at the earth – It appears flat like a carpet. We have made it a mahd – a place to be inhabited and Allah said He expanded it. When Allah says expand, it means it never ends. So that is an indication of a scientific meaning here, they discovered lately that the earth is circular. When he said he made it flat and expanded it wide – it means that wherever you move, it never ends. How can it be that it never ends? You move and you continue moving. It never ends because it is a circle. If it comes to an end it will not always be stretching. To be stretching and moving outward that is not seen so the tafsir is that it means the earth is circular.

We have made it straight and still it is a circle. What kind of greatness is that? Consider! When you move from south to north, you don’t fall off. You are always standing straight, never tilted. Put a cup on the book. Tilt the book and the cup falls. Whey does it fall? Wherever it tilts must not fall. What is stopping you from tilting, and falling? You always appear to be standing straight. Allah put gravity. What is it? Where is it? What is that power? Can you see it? Why can you not see it? Why do we believe in science when they say gravity, but when Allah says, “I exist” we do not believe? We believe because the cup is not falling. Why don’t you live forever? What makes you die if this dunya is not going away? What is the difference - they are made from atoms. Why do we die? The carpets do not die. Cups do not die. Shoes do not die. Rocks do not die. Why do we have to die and they do not die? Why do I have to believe in gravity, show it to me. Not through experiments but show gravity to me. Yes, you can feel gravity, but can you not feel Allah’s presence?

Since they believe in what the scientists say, they must believe in what the Prophet (s) said.
“Alam naj`al il-arda meehaadan.”
a place that is to live on to rest in, like a crib for a child.

“Wal-jibaala awtaada”
– “And the mountains as pegs.” It means that if these mountains were not there what would have happened. It would tremble. Allah put mountains to make it very stable. Without mountains, what happens – it will shake. Allah put prayer on us like mountains on earth in order for our selves not to shake. The Prophet said, “al-salaat `imad ad-deen” – Salaat is the pillar of religions. Otherwise you will be shaking, you will be unbalanced. Prayer is to make your ego stable. Otherwise you become like Pharaoh, saying
“ana rabbukum al-`ala.”
- “I am your Lord the most High.” No you are nothing. Your prayers are to stabilize your ego, otherwise it will jump out of yourself.

We made them pegs to prevent its movement. If it moves, then it is a disaster on everyone. When Allah wants to destroy a place, he orders the mountains to move from inside. Where they hammer the pegs, its roots, they shake it a little bit. He orders the angels, shake the roots of the mountains. Or He orders to make volcanoes blast forth from the roots of these mountains.

Who are the pegs of humanity? They are the Prophet. Who is the greatest, the strongest, most powerful peg of humanity – that is Prophet Muhammad (s). In al-Hakim’s sahih from Ibn `Abbas (r), “When Allah wanted to create creation He sent the wind and it blew away the water.” When the water covered the entire earth, He sent the wind, and it blew the water. When it was blown it was first taken away from the place called the hashafa, which is below the Ka`ba. From there, Allah stretched the earth, until whatever Allah wanted it to reach from tul wal `ard – longitude and latitude. When he stretched it [mahd means stretched it, keeping it circular]. And in this way [hakadha wa hakadha – and the Arabs always move their hands in curves, not in a straight line] Allah made the mountains to stabilize the earth and Abu Qubays was the first mountain put on earth.”

So the Awtad are the tent pegs for earth. And the Prophets are the pegs for humanity. And the `ulama are the pegs of dunya – “al-`ulama warithat al-anbiya” - for the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. Abi Sa`eed al-Kharaaz, one of the greatest `ulama of his time was asked about Awtad and Abdal. He was asked which is higher – are the Pegs higher or the Substitutes. He replied the Pegs, because the Abdal change from state to state. Awtad they reached perfection because they are stable like mountains. A mountain is not changing, always in the same position.

[Imam Ahmad narrated from Prophet (s) when you are lost in jungle or desert, call on `ibadullah ayi`unee or aghithnee.] Ibn `Ata said, “The awtad are the people of istiqama wa as-sidq, straightforward and on truth. The ahwaal never change them and they are in the maqam of tamkeen - stability. He level of stable perfecting.

The Awtad are four from human beings. The first one of them keeps the east. His name according to awliya’Allah is Abdul Hayi. The second protects the west and his name is Abdul Aleem. The third one who protects the north is called Abdul Mureed. The fourth one protecting the south is Abdul Qadir.

The Abdal are seven and some hadith say 40. Protecting and taking care through the permission and inheritance of secrets of the Prophet (s), they are always in the dunya, one dies and another takes his place, so on repeatedly as they are always present in dunya.

Next we will continue with Wakhalaqnakum azwajan “and have we not created you in pairs?” They were disputing with the Holy Prophet (s). Allah is asking, “Did we not create you in pairs?” Allah swt is telling them, “Everything I created is great news. Have we not created you in pairs?” This means, “Everything I made in this life balances the other. Everything you imagine, if this is black, that is white – that is a pair. Everything must be balanced in pairs. If we have evil, we have well, that is a pair. Allah is the Best Creator; he is the Creator and the Best Judge. He created everything with wisdom and balance. We created you in pairs, men and women. Man without woman cannot live, woman without man cannot live. That is in the human race. In animals there are female and male also. Without female male does not live, and vice versa. We find trees that mate when the wind blows they mate, or are pollinated, fertilized, within themselves, having male and female within itself. And it does not bring fruit; we say it is a wild tree. What do they do to it if does not produce. They graft the branch of another tree on it. Why – to make them pairs, to join them. That joining with each other brings that secret of life. Without joining it is against, it is different from the standard way of life. And that is why the creation of Sayyidina `Isa (as) is a miracle and the creation of Sayyidina Adam is a miracle. Anyone else was created by means of pairs.

Look at moon and sun. If there were no sun, no light and if there were no moon, there would be no hisab, no means of counting the months. It shows the beginning of the month and its end. Two things are shining in the sky – the moon and the sky, complementing each other.

Human beings, without spiritual balance to the physical body you cannot live. It is a union between two different elements, the body and the soul. Everything Allah is giving us, He is saying “I created in pairs.” Like rich and poor. Like health and disease. Like knowledge and ignorance, strength and weakness, male and female, tall and short. With his wisdom Allah has made everything in pairs. Even the atom – you have the electron negative, and the proton positive and they are equal, balancing each other in the atom. For every 6 electrons, there are 6 protons; 100 negatives with 100 positives.

So it must be that everything is in pairs. He gave you mind and he gave you heart; mind and body for dunya and heart for akhira. Allah is saying “Is not that creation in pairs enough of a sign for you to understand My Greatness? I made everything male and female.” If you think a little bit, a tiny bit, about how Allah designed male and female, in his power of “kun faya kun”. How they come together to bring generations? That mechanism is beyond imagination.

They speak of scientific discovery, what scientific discovery? They are proud of stem cells. As if they invented the dynamite? They are using what is already there. Can they bring a non-living stem cell and give it life. And they are still using it and they have to plant it and place it where it is necessary in order to grow (inside the mother’s womb).
They say about the moon, that there is no living species on the moon. Why? Because it is too cold .no one can live on the moon, no one live on mars. Who told them? Who told them no one can live on the moon. If they cannot see, then they are stupid. Who told them there is no one inside the moon? How do we know there is not life inside the moon? Why do we have to believe them?

Look at DNA Can they see it with their eyes? It might be that Allah put something on the moon a living thing that they cannot see. Now they are making experiments, now they find that one DNA can take the information of 1 million books. And that DNA is a complete plan of your entire lifetime. From the time of your creation in your mother’s womb until you die. How much you will earth, speak, walk or work. Every action you will ever do in your life is written there. Like a blueprint.

They say if the temperature gets too low you die. Why you die? How are they preserving these stem cells and embryos? At –30° C. Why then Allah will not create creation on the moon and they would not be living? They pull it out of the freezer and fertilize the egg and it comes to life. Who gave them that knowledge? They say Allah cannot do it but they can do it if they cannot see the stem cell with their eyes, and they say on the moon or on mars there is no life? They cannot see what is between their hands, yet they want to say there is nothing on mars or on the moon.

Allah created everything in pairs. Let them create from nothing a living thing. Let them sit and blow and say we create man & woman. Still they are working with what Allah gave them. They cannot go beyond. If Allah opened for them some discoveries, it is only what He gave them. Not that they can create a human being – Allah will destroy them.
“And made your sleep for rest.” – We gave you that. As the body needs to rest, so does the spirit need to rest. Allah gave the body and the whole system to rest. Allah gave you to need that power to relax yourself. If that is necessary for the body, what do you think is necessary for the spirit. Everything is in balance: rich-poor, healthy-sick, good-evil. Everything is in pairs. Therefore if there is relax for the body, there is relaxing for the spirit. Relaxing for the body is to go like in death.

Allah said, “and made your sleep for rest.” And according to the Prophet” when you sleep Allah takes the soul from the body,” you become like a dead person. So what I the rest of the soul. Allah said to make the soul rest, one must sleep on ablution. Pray two rak`ats and sleep. When you sleep your soul will go out. If no wudu should stays between heaven and earth. For non-believer stays in darkness. For believer on wudu it will go and prostrate under the throne, and it will be blessed to swim in the ocean of dhikrullah. Allah will bless it and bestow his grace o n it. In full submission and prostration.
That is why sleep is important. The soul is there in full `ibadat. It will be written for you full `ibada. If not on wudu you don’t know where your soul will go.
That is why Allah is saying made the sleep for rest.
That dead person is like a sleeping person. When in deep sleep you feel nothing around your. So take an example from what Allah gave at night. If Allah does not send back your should, then you are finished, you stay there.
When you are ready to sleep, you say, “o Rabbi I am going between your hands, if you send it back I am happy and if not,…” remember there is akhira. If Allah prevents you from going to your body, your cars are gone, your wealth is gone, your wife is gone to someone else, after you, your stocks are gone, … so do for your akhira as if you are dying tomorrow. Or else you will be lost.
“We have made your sleep for rest”. Subata is a complete disconnection from any action that you do in dunya. And it is coming from as-sabti, means something cut. Disconnected, maqtu`. You cannot do anything, prohibited. You are under orders of Allah, relaxing. That is why sabt, the six days of the week, which the Jews call the Sabbath it is the day in which there is no work. “Wa ja`alna nawmakum subatan.”
At that time you are disconnected, cannot do any work. You are between the hands of Allah swt.
Why is it called subata, or Sabbath for the Jews. Allah create heavens and earth from Sunday to Friday and on Saturday everything was completed, nothing was done. Allah created everything in six days and Allah knows what they are those six days. He created everything in six days, that big bang, “kun fayakoon.” It was created in its place.
They say there was a big bang, . They say a big bang an explosion of enormous proportion, took place at “zero moment” Zero is still a number. You say zero dollar means you don’t have a dollar but it is still describing something. You say zero dollar but it is a figure showing nonexistence of something.
So what was before zero and how did it happen form no-zero to zero. What happened in that time frame?
From zero to big-bang it blew up. If you bring a bomb and you throw it and it explodes, what happens? Everything shatters. This shattering when that big bang happened, it shattered in a vacuum. When something happens in a vacuum, as when they go to the moon or go in a space shuttle. When you see them go up, they float, they fly. Whey – no gravity. So there is no gravity.
When that big bang happened in a vacuum where there is no gravity, so everything was spreading. But we don’t see it spreading, it stopped. The sun is in its place, the moon is in its place, the stars are fixed. So why did it stop?
Like an atomic reaction – does it stop? It is going to go with it full force forward. The only thing to stop is another counter force. It has to be exactly equal at the right moment and in the right time and right strength or it will stop every particle that was shattered in that big bang. The probability to happen that way is so low that no one can imagine it. To stop the power of that big bang at the right time, right environment, to coincide with the force that came from before – that to happen is impossible.
Who stopped that? Who made it to stop. The exact equal force at the right time and the right environment stopped everything.
[everything is moving but in one direction. In an explosion, the movement is apart, with every particle going in a random direction. Allah stopped the sun and its entire solar system in its relative framework relative to the galaxy and the galaxies relative to each other, in a symmetrical system.]
[“tajrii li-mustaqarrin laha” – that means it will continue in it motion, until the judgment day, when it reaches its end. Or it means it goes during the day until it reaches sunset.]
As soon as Allah said, “Kaf” from ‘kun’, then when He said, “Nun” of the rest of the word, it stopped the expansion. Probability of that happening is impossible to calculate. Even if you go up to the ten to power of ten million zeroes it will never happen. 10 to the 100 zeroes above the 10. there is no way to describe it in any math or scientific language. What do you think of that opposite force to come for each star in each galaxy. They say 3 billion galaxies. They say in each galaxy 300 billion stars.
For each one there was an opposing force to go bring it to rest.
He mentioned that word subata, wa ja`lna…. To say something maqtu`. I created creation on Sunday and ended on friday. That is the time for the nun to connect to the ‘kaf’. “Amruhu bayn al-kaf wal-nun.” When that order took place it took six days. In that six days these start and galaxies were created. And that is not all of creation. What about heavens. Those you cannot see and it is related to akhira. That all occurred in six days.
That means on that day, the nun connected with ‘kaf’, on the day of sabt, which is called in Arabic sabt, the seventh day. Sunday, as it is said, Allah created skies and earth from Sunday up to Saturday, and it took six days for nun to reach ‘kaf’ and then it stopped.
What is that greatness of Allah swt.
When that big bang supposedly occurred, those particles were hurled outward without anything to stop them. Billions or more of particles, billions of what Allah wanted to create, planets, etc. in a vacuum. And there is no force of gravity to stop them as it is far overcoming than the force of gravity. The force at the innermost part of the big bang is a different force, the most force is at the big bang’s center. Those at the outer part move outward, and those inside the center will be boosted much faster with different forces. That means every particle star, etc. encountered force of different direction and power. That means to stop all these particles it needs an equal counter force.
And if one of them is still moving, then everything will begin to crash about and just like a pool table, then everything is in disaster. They fear that a big asteroid hit the earth and cause complete destruction.
And if everything moving about in different random directions, what countered each of these particles to come to a rest subata. What can you imagine that countered that power. Was there another big bang countering the power. Or was it the hand of Allah’s qudra, his infinite power, stopping every particle. He does not need to use hand to stop them, His power is in “kun fayakoon”. So according to their theory what caused these planets and things to stop. What kind of electrical and magnetic force stopping them. What is moving these planets and objects in the vacuum and balancing them, in the middle. When Allah says, “kun fayakoon” another time, then all collapses. At that time he says, “liman al-mulki al-yawm” and it belongs to Allah. Then He crushes everything. AS soon as he Pulls away these forces everything collapses. That is such that no matter what theories according to probability never can this be done.
They speak of science. If you take a small piece of dynamite and put in the bushes and explode it, and it shatters, can you put any force to stop each shattered piece of glass in the air. Allah stopped it in the air, in a vacuum and stopped it in a way that there is no gravity, and stopped them so they are rotating around their axis and stopped some sot they are rotating around another planet or sun and stopped some so they are rotating in ways we don’t know about. And they are crowing jumping up and down about some tiny discoveries they made.
That sleep that Allah made is like a kind of death. That death is a temporary death, that you will come back to life. Allah is showing that as I bring you back to life from your sleep, \i can bring you back to life from the full death. That one is sleeping in his bed , you look at him you don’t know if he is alive or not. You have to check is he breathing or not, is his heart pumping or not? Just as I bring you back from sleep in the morning I can bring you to life in the resurrection. What is that secret that when you sleep you are not conscious, I take it away and you lose all awareness and I put it back and you are awake another time.
Awliya-Ullah, they have been freed by Allah at any time they have reached that state, in their life, “muutu qabl an-tamut.” Because he controlled his ego, made his ego to die. Awliya, inheritors of sahaba, died before their death, means their spirits are freed from the cage of the body. They do this and they are able to say, “read this awrad, and you will be safe, read the quran and you will be ok.” They see what is ahead of the mureed in order to warn them, give them a hint, in order to protect them.
“Wa ja`alna nawmakum subata.” Rest - what rest. He created creation in 6 days and then stopped. There is a hint here, that if you do your worship, and follow the path of Sayyidina Muhammad, then you will reach a resting situation, a peaceful situation in which you see no hardship. I will make you swim in the ocean of restfulness, and relaxation. At that time you will be granted eternal love, eternal majestic blessings. You will be blessed and dressed from my lights and my divine names and attributes (beautiful). At that time you will say to anything, O ya Rabbi, please do this, help this one, cure this one and Allah will accept your dua and cure that one. That is why the Companions would go to the Prophet and ask him for dua. Because Prophet’s dua never rejected. After Prophet, the Sahaba’s dua never rejected. After the Sahaba, dua of awliya never rejected.
O Allah grant us eternal knowledge, love and beauty, the way to all that.

Audhubillahi minash-shaytan ir-rajeem Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem
Nawayta al-arba`een….fee hadha al-masjid

We will continue, insha-Allah giving commentary on Surat an-Naba. We arrived at “wa ja`alna nawmakum subaatan.” Today we begin with “wa ja`alana al-layla libasan” – and made the night as a covering. Allah swt said, “and made the day as a means of sustenance.”
This means that Allah swt, gave us, because he said, we created you in pairs, so everything is impairs, and we described this before, he says sama he says ard, he says sick and healthy, sick and healthy…
Everything is in balance. When Allah says we made the night a covering, it means he made it for you a rest, to spend time in relaxation. And layl means what? Night is what, as opposed to day. It feeds dark. Light feeds sunshine, it feed the daytime, you can see everything. At night it is dark. We have made to cover your sins, because the sins show the dark side of a person. We are the Veiler of your sins. With that we are veiling you from committing sins, by covering you with no light, so no one can see, by Allah’s mercy. Allah is as-Sattar- he is the Veiler. He does not expose what his servant is doing wrong, but keeps covering it up. It means we have from our mercy, covered your sins. And as you repent we are building you up in spirituality, in the light of your heart, the light of awliya, the light necessary to receive sustenance. Sustenance is not only food, but whatever lifts you spiritually is sustenance.
We have made the night a covering. Covering your mistakes. Covering is like a blanket, a cloth. \I like to veil you, don’t show the dark side of yourself. Keep the dark side of yourself covered and keep the day of Islam.
Allah made blankets to cover whatever you do of evil. Marriage is half of religion. Prophet described it as ½ of religion. It is to protect you from falling into sins. He made wife a cover for her husband and v.v. without a husband the wife has no cover and without a husband the woman has no cover from sins. That dark side is pulling to sins, but with the wife or the husband that is covered.
How to be covered - repent from your sins.
And he made you a cover for them and them a cover for you verse. To relax and frolic with your family.
Allah made it the place of sleeping, which is the brother of death, as if you are died, he pulls away your spirit. Then as if you are in the grave, there is no one around. You are in a small narrow ditch and there is darkness there. Either your grave will be a paradise or a hole of hellfire. So that is what you must know, the symbol of sleep represents death: no family, no children, no neighbors. At that time you are alone in the grave. What will you say to your lord? That is a place to remember your lord. That is why night is a time for meditation when everyone is asleep. Saying “there is no one with me. I am coming to you.” If you approach Allah thru meditation at that time, he will open his light for you, his spiritual light, to build you up in spirituality and raise you in the divine presence, and we made the day a light.
He will make the day of your heart, the nur of your heart, a place to raise you up, and he made that light, a rejuvenating of your heart, which will give you new your life, your fountain of youth, which Sayyidina Khidr was seeking, and with that fountain pouring out from your heart, that will be the light of the heart and that will be your sustenance.
It is said that Allah swt said, “did not we make the earth flat for you to live in it like a crib.” That earth al-bashariyya is your heart. That cradle-like earth is the foundation of your heart for you to know your lord and for you to relax thru your mediation that Allah gave you in your heart.
When you make your heart a crib for you, and Allah said, “and we made the mountains as pegs”, he made the earth a wide expanse – at that time when you build yourself up, he extends your heart so wide, expanding it so that at that time, he will make the mountains of your heart, the mountains as pegs, building up your good ego, and destroy the bad ego, and build up the nafs al-mutma’ina, to build up that huge mi`raj for yourself t reach the higher level from the basic found. Of the crib of the heart, then he builds those mountains like the mi`raj, to bestow His grace on your and these tajallis. That is why he said, the house of the lord is the heart of the servant. And he said, neither my heavens nor me earth contains me, but the heart of my believing servant contains me.
He expanded your heart very wide, and then built up the pegs of the heart, the mi`raj which make you ascend. At that time he said, “and we made you pairs” and at that time He will unite the ruh with the peaceful soul, and that time the heart which is the male part of the person, and the nafs is the female of the person, and he will unite them at that time, making them to be a pair (zawj) and he make the heat and the peaceful ego together, at that time he said, “we made for you sleep as a rest”
At that time you will be in sleep, surrender to Allah’s will. He created you in pairs, heart and peaceful ego, and he made you as one in the night of the soul’s rest, and then you will achieve surrender, which is like death. The symbol of sleep is to surrender to Allah’s will.
At the time you sleep we make your sleep relaxation. At that time he takes all earthly desires from the heart and at that time you are surrendering in the ocean of spirituality. When he takes away lusts, then “I will veil you with my attributes” I will veil you from those who cannot understand you. I build you up and then I hide you so that no one will recognize you. And make the day a sustenance, the day of the spirit, the mi`raj of the self, will be a day for you, ascending in the Divine Presence, receiving the inspirations and blessings from my 99 Beautiful Attributes and Names. At that time, “I make the day as a means of sustenance”. What kid of sustenance. At that time your sustenance Is complete worship and obedience and observance of shari`ah. I raise you from zero to that level of obedience.
When I raise you up, I give you seven layer on your heart. “wa banayna fawqakum saba`an shidaada”.
And have we not build above you seven firmaments?
Abu Layth Samarkandi said from one firmament to the next is the travel of 500,000 years.
It is like domes of the building, built without any pillars or supports, each one above the other. What does it symbolize? It is the symbol for the seven levels of the heart.
1) tabaqat as-sudur – as-sard is the chest, where you breathe. And it is the essence of the rare Islamic knowledge and understanding.
2) Tabaqat al-qalb – level of the heart. That is the place of the essence of faith. (jawhar al-iman) jewel of faith.
3) Ashighafa – devotion, love, muhabba and to feel compassion for others (ash-shafaqa)
4) Al-fu’ad – the qalb is the heart, the visible heart. The fu’ad is the essence of the heart. That is the location of vision and seeing (kashafa wal mushahada) to visualize and to see witnessing.
5) The kernel of the heart – the smallest inside the essence of the heart. That is the specialized location for the love of Allah. There is nothing in that kernel expect love of Allah and it has nothing to do with love of the two worlds.
6) As-suayda – the smallest kernel of the heart, then the heavenly knowledges is given to you al-`ilm al-ladunni. That is the house of wisdom. Neither the heavens and .. contains me… but the heart contains me. And Sayyidina Ali that the head of wisdom is fear of Allah. That fear is not fear of punishment but fear of being outside of His presence. That is what Sayyidina Ali meant, not that one fears Allah from punishment. But to fear losing love of Allah and to be far from him.
7) Bayt al-`izza – the House of “al-`izzatu lillahi. ..” honor is for Allah and His Prophet an to the believers. He gave from honor and dignity to the believer and that is why is called the heart of the two perfections. Al-dhaahir walbaatin. Qalb alkamailayn.
At this station the Divine Secrets will be given to you and you have no right to bring them out from the internal to the external. From internal t external can be brought out, except from that special place. You have no right to bring that knowledge from that hidden place to the people.
That is why Say Abu Huraraya said ”I kept from the Prophet 2 kinds of knowledge..”
That knowledge is only for you. At that time you become “wa ja`alana siraajan wa haaja” awe make you light shining on earth with your knowledge, but with the light that comes in your heart, it shows in your face and is dispersed to everyone.
“Siraajan wa haaja” is described as the powerful energy of the light produced from the boiling elements that light appeared. From that light of the heavenly secrets that Allah placed in your heart, inside your heart will be a burning process from the `ishq al-ilahiy and it will be a sign to humanity, ayat min ayatillah. People will be attracted without doing anything. Without saying even one word, those people are attracted to them.
It is said, “the sun and the moon are created at the beginning of his order from the light of his throne. And on the judgment day they are ordered to return to the light of the throne from which they were created. From the light of the throne, Allah created the sun and the moon to appear and give us light in this world. Why is that explained so? Ikrima said on Ibn `Abbas, that he said, “do you want to hear what I heard from the Prophet about how the sun and moon were created and what happens t them. They said ‘bala.’ The Prophet was asked about the creation of the moon and the sun and what Allah will do with them.
When Allah created His creation, [as we explained about big bang before], and all this universe was brought to its final state of creation. And nothing remained behind of his creation but the creation of Adam [by “kun fayakun”]. At that time He created two suns from the light of His throne. [he crate 2 suns]. And what he wanted to leave as a sun, he left, and he created around it, huge universes, just as he crated around the earth. One or them he created a universe around and the 2nd, with his Ancient Knowledge (`ilmahu al-qadim) He willed that the 2nd sun be covered from its light. He created it and turned it into a moon. And indeed he created it less than the sun in size. He ordered Jibreel and sent Jibreel to it and he moved his wing across that moon’s face and thereby extinguished the light of the moon, so it no longer produces light. If he had not done that you would never have been able to calculate day and night and the months, nor when to fast and break. If Allah and what is called the moon, as he created them before sending Jibreel to extinguish its light, never would we have known day from night, nor when to fast or to break and never would a woman know when here period is coming and no one would have been able to know the prayer times and no one would have known the months and years. What you see of dark spots on the moon, was the effect of the wing of Jibreel. For that He said, ‘we have wiped and removed the day, and made the daytime to be seen’ by the movement of Jibreel’s wing across the moons face. When the judgment day comes and Allah separates the people of fire and paradise, before they enter their destinations. Allah will call the sun and the moon and they will come before him shaking in His Presence visible to all from the fear of that day [in which all prophet will be shaking in Allah’s presence] and when they come near the throne of Allah, they will both fall in prostration to Allah. And they say ‘O our God. You now our service to you and our continuous worship to you and our speed in running to fulfill your order. So do not punish us because of those who worshipped us. [just as Allah asks Sayyidina Isa ‘did you ask the people to worship you?’ And they say, ‘You know that we never commanded anyone to worship us.’ Allah says, “ubdeeu wa u`eed.” – “I create you and send you back where I like.” At that time he sends them back to the Throne and they disappear. And they say together ‘from what did you create us’ and He says. ‘from the light of my throne’ and they return to what they were created by Allah from.”
The sun and moon carry two elements: light and heat. Whatever they have in light goes to the light of the throne. Whatever they have of heat, Allah throws back in hell to increase it in heat.
It is said that the light of the sun and the light of the moon will return to the light of the Throne and in the end their light will return to the light of the Prophet. “Wa ja`alan siraaja wa haaja” refers to the Prophet, where Allah said, “siraajan wa kitaaban mubeen” because it is said in some narrations that the throne and the chair are created form the light of the Prophet. In the reality they are created from the light of the Prophet and their light is connected to His light and all is his light and his light is from Allah’s light and praise be to Allah for that.
That is why some hadith of Prophet said, the sun is in the 4th heaven.
And grandshaykh said, “the sun we see is no the real sun. it is the image of the sun that exists in reality in the 4th paradise.”

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem

Verses 14-16

We explained last time “and do we not send down from the clouds water in abundance?” Allah swt is describing in this Surat to his prophet tell the unbelievers why are they looking so strange at what I am revealing to you, about the last days and the day of judgment. The unbelievers Say it is only the first death” [] and Allah telling them in this sura, no there is another resurrection and you will be brought back to judgment.
And Allah is saying don’t look at it as strange. Allah telling them thru diff. Verses we explained that “did we not make the earth a wide expanse? and the mountains… night, day… and have we not build over you seven.. lamp?
Allah is saying ’who can create these think I is difficult to create you again. And now he says, do we not send down from the clouds water in abundance?
“Min al mu`sirat” – clouds – means when you have a towel full of water, and you wring it out, this wringing out of water . Here Allah describing to prophet and this is scientific discovery that they just discovered. They discovered that the mu`sirat are something that you wring and then you crush it and it brings out the water. The description of the clouds as coming together and hitting each other, and when they hit together, they crush each other, and cause water to come forth. We know that neg. and positive clouds, cause lightning – when what happens – water comes down.
“Maan thajjaaja.” – in huge quantities. Water to come in huge quantities must be storms. It does not come from a normal breath and the water evaporates and then comes down. Allah saying we have made storms, when you have lightning and thunder. Like a towel full of water, that when you wring it it showers in abundance. It is not something like a soft rain but ‘we are sending storms’. Now when such storms occur they send you home ‘storm watch’ on radio.
This Allah is saying, “I am showing this to you as a sign of my majestic power, in order to create new life with it.”
If it is not heavy rain there Is no vegetation coming out. All life will die. If no heavy abundance no rivers, no seas. Who put rivers and oceans and mountains. Who made it to always recycle itself, coming from clouds and rain. “I am the one recycling this just as today they recycle a fountain, using one pump. How does it run. With electricity. And what is electricity – energy|? Allah sending this huge water coming from paradise from havens with energy. Negative and positive causing electricity.
This is mentioned 1400 years about clouds hitting each other. Who knew about that.
Now rivers running to oceans, as if running to their destinies.
The ocean in spiritual description is the depth of knowledge. Rivers are ways to reach that knowledge. So you see the river always runs to the ocean. Either thru the ground or on top of it. It is recycling itself. The water that is needed to keep the balance Allah sends it from clouds that is the cont. cycle of the fountain of life to keep life nurtured in this dunya.
We have sent from these clouds this abundant water, huge amounts of water. What else does this mean? It means from the different levels, from the mu`sirati, the clouds coming from heavens, we are sending, as everything high indicates heavens, and everything low is represented by earth. So anything up can nurture what is down. So from the highest level of the horizons and the state of the heavens of the heart, the different layers as we described them before, in that sura, from these seven levels we described before, when Allah said, we have built above you seven firmaments. These are the 7 firm of the heart, as mentioned before. From these seven firmaments of the heart, Allah is nurturing with the heavenly rain, mixes it with the seven levels of the heart, and that rain rejuvenates the seven levels of the heart, and pours the knowledge on the physical body, allowing you to receive that information and inspiration to your mind thru these different levels.
And do we sent down from the clouds water in abundance? - do we not send from the seven levels of the heart the knowledge , how much we send depends on your container. Fi your heart is a large cont. then we shower it in abundance.
Sending it from the skies of the spiritual levels of the heart, al-altaf, by sending a breath, or breeze which passes thru the seven levels of the heart, it will move all these different levels of clouds, wring them out, causing a flood of water to drop on the foundations of your heart, “that we may produce therewith grains and vegetables and different gardens\’. That showering of the fountain of the water of life, will pour on the foundation of your heart and at this time the vegetation, the spiritual upliftment of the self, will grow, and as it grows, we give you gardens of luxurious growth. So we send to your heart the water of knowledge. And wisdom to create with it habba, the seed. Seed of what. It is not the vegetation that grows on earth but is the muhabba dhaatiyya. Love of the creator in the heart. And nabaata – plant that sprouts from the ground. As soon as the seed of love of the Creator begins to grow, that sprout will always be in a state of yearning for its origin. That source is inna lillahi and inna ilayhi raji`un that yearning will be in the heart of that pious one on whom we shower our knowledge.
When Allah is sending that grain of love and the sprouts of yearning, at that time, he will give you gardens of luxurious growth. Gardens that you never imagined. What is jannaatin alfafa. Alfafa means that when you go to a jungle, intertwined, with branches growing in all directions, tangles and twisted and layered. It means paradises that are intertwined together – knowledge from every side you look you will receive knowledge, regardless of anything, that as long as you connect your heart with us, and grow that sprout of love to Allah, \he will give to you from any direction you look, from where you are standing, luxurious and intertwined gardens of knowledge. Never can you imagine how Allah will send you that intermingled and intertwined knowledge. You will hear the tasabih of the mala’ikat and you can differentiate from one angel to another and from one sound to another. You will receive infinite amount of knowledge coming to your heart, without any one knowledge overlapping the other. With that heavenly power we grant when you open your heat towards us.
And we will grant you three different levels of paradises as described. Jannat al-muhabba, jannat al-mawadda and jannat al-`ishq
Jannat al-muhabba – paradise of love
Jannat al-mawadda – paradise of intimacy
And jannat al-`ishq – paradise of yearning. From each of these paradises, knowledge will be coming without overlapping on each other and you will hear as if one were separate and … and when we give you that ‘yawmal fasli kaana meeqaata’
When you get this stage everything is sorting out for you. You will be lifted up from among those who are ordinary, who are not striving for that. ‘the day of sorting out is a day that is coming’
In the literal meaning that is the judgment Day. Verily it is coming, for believers and unbelievers to be sorted out who is good and who is bad.
Also in dunya, the seekers will be sorted out – the perfect from the non-perfect. The ones who are lifted higher and those who did not reach as high because they did not try their best in the way of Allah.
”Inna yawmal-fasli kaana meeqaata.” Allah is separating the lucky ones su`ada and the sad ones ashqia. That is not tied to a time. When Allah want it will happen. That appointed day is coming and no one is excluded from that day. Whoever does good he will see good. “Wa man yamal mithqala dharratin khayran yarah.” will see it. That is coming in front of us. You do good you find good. You do bad you find bad. So what do we have to do? build our heart towards our creator.
Allah said,– verily the day of sorting out is a thing appointed. ‘the day the trumpet is blown and ye shall come forth in crowds’
When Allah sort you as a believer, as a seeker, seeking his love in this dunya. He is going to sort you out from the whole crowd. He is going to send you a trumpet, a sound, that pulls you from the darkness of this dunya to the light of his diving presence. That is the sour an-nuraani. The trumpet of light. That trumpet of light no one can hear except who Allah wants him to hear it. The day your heart is going to heart that trumpet. That is a trumpet of light, and you will come forth in crowds – ma` alladheena an`amAllahu `alayhim… from the crowd of the nabiyyin, siddiqin, … form the pious awliya Allah. He will put you under his domes. Awliya’I tahta qibaabi, laa ya`alamahum ghayri.
No one hears that trumpet but you. And Allah is hinting at you, why are you waiting? do you not know that the day of judgment is coming. Why are you questioning it? Come to me in dunya before akhira. Don’t be heedless. I will open for you luxurious gardens. You never imagined, you never dreamed about them. You think when Prophet when he told the Sahaba be with me and you will reach paradise. As soon as that was revealed, immediately they were brought to those paradises, living in them, tasting.
When he told them fight in the way of Allah, you will be granted paradises with rivers flowing underneath. You will be granted the women of paradise. And women will be granted the men of paradise ghilman, mentioned in the quran. As soon as the Prophet said, that they were there, experiencing that. As soon as a believer throws away the darkness of his heart, he can see these gardens of luxurious growth.
Normal human beings see nothing, hear nothing, taste nothing. They are animals.

Tafsir Ayats 17 - 26


Audhubillahi minash-shaytan ir-rajeem Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem
Nawayta al-arba`een….fee hadh almasjid

Ati`ullaha wa ati`ur-Rasul wa ulil-amri minkum

Sadaqa-Allahul -`adheem

Yawma yunfakhu fis-suri. The day the Trumpet will be sounded and ye shall come forward in crowds. When Allah orders Sayyidina Israfil to blow the Trumpet, and everyone will rise up from death, Allah sends life back to everyone, and it has been mentioned in all the sihah, about how Sayyidina Israfil will blow the Trumpet twice. The first time before the judgment day, everything on earth will die. The 2nd time everyone will rise up. Allah will send a rain from heaven that carries drops, each drop knows its owner, which will reconnect back to the atom of the backbone of each person, which never deteriorates –those who know reality , as the Prophet described, those small particles never deteriorate in the earth. Each particle reconnects with its owner and from that every person comes back up to life.
And you will come in crowds, divisions and groups. You are not going to come in one group and you are not going to come by yourself . You are going to come in different groups.
It is said that is one of the meanings of fa taatuna afwaaja. That every group of people will come with its imam. Like the followers of Sayyidina Adam come with Sayyidina Adam, those of nuha..Nuh of Musa, Isa and of Sayyidina Muhammad. Everyone comes with his imam. The most lucky are those who come with Sayyidina Muhammad. Those who accepted him and followed him will be in his group.
This is one meaning.
The other meaning is that everyone comes according to what he has done in the dunya. He will be lead depending on his `amal, lead by someone with those whom they resembles. Killers come with killers, thieves with thieves, cheaters with cheaters, back biters with backbiters. Everyone comes with the imam that describes their characteristics. And that was a question when Muadh asked “O Prophet of Allah. How will people be following in different divisions – who are their imams?”
The prophet said, “You have asked from one of the great matters among all matters.” Then the Prophet looked into the future (looked at the horizon) and said, “My ummah will be of ten different division depending on what they have done. Some of them will come on the picture of monkeys, some on the picture of pigs; some of them will come with their feet in the air and their head on the ground; [like sports people today who walk on their hands]. Some will come blind; some will come deaf; some will have long tongues which will come down to their chest and they will be chewing it; some will have pus coming from their mouth; some will have their feet and hands cut; some will come crucified on trees; and the Prophet described them in such a manner – some wearing robes of fire, and from the heat of it they are melting.”
This means that Allah swt will call us according to our amal. Then on the judgment our reality will be shown. You cannot hide your reality. Your reality will appear.
Now in dunya many of us are of these different classifications, which Prophet mentioned Muadh. How then are we praying and saying “Allahu akbar!”
Allah is seeing us. Either we are monkeys or pigs or chewing our tongues or this or that. How then do you expect that our amal is accepted like that because what you are in dunya you are in akhira.
If the corrupt of the ummah are going to be like that,, because the saliheen will be behind the Prophet. How then do you want to clean yourself. Just as in akhira you will be raised with your imam you must be follow an imam in this dunya. That imam will introduce you to the Prophet. In this dunya the imam will guide to actions and a cleaning process to clean you of your bad character.
In the judgment Day we will be present with our imam of what ever type. So what about in dunya –don’t you need an imam.
Prophet came with message to whole imam. Don’t you needed an imam to follow in this dunya to guide you to steps of Prophet. If Prophet said, “if there are three, then let one be the imam.”
The worst will come in the picture of a monkey. Those are the namaam. They spread rumors that are not true to cause harm.
Once upon a time, a man bought a salve. He asked ‘does that slave have any bad manners?” the seller said, “No. Except he is a namaam. He creates fitna between people. Double faced and hypocrite. They say something to people to hear, then they are afraid for their position their chair, they say something else. They do this to keep control in their hand.
So the buyer said, “that is not so big, I can handle it.” He bought him. So that young ghulam said to the wife of the new owner, “your husband doesn’t love you. I found out from his actions that he does not love you. And he is cheating you. So if you want me to help you to do black magic on him, then take this knife and cut some of his hair while he is sleeping. Then I will make magic with that hair and then he will love you.”
Then he went to the husband and said, “your wife does not love you; she loves someone else and so she wants to kill you.” So pretend you are sleeping and then see what she will do. That is the description of a monkey. They come in the face of … some people make black white and white black. They sleep with everyone.
So that man pretended to sleep and the wife, with a pure heart brought a big knife to cut his hair, in order to give the servant to make black magic. She approached him and the man seeing this thought he was coming to kill him. He jumped up and took the knife an killed her.
The tribe of the woman next took revenge and killed the man. Then the tribe of the man and the tribe of the woman began to take up a blood feud.
That is a namaam. One who accuses of people who did nothing of harming others. You did it. No we did not do it. Look at who did it. They don’t want to look. They want to throw the confusion and blame on one or two persons or millions.
This is what we see today. Look at the muslim community how they backbite each other to keep their positions. They will come as monkeys on Judgment Day.
Those who come in the picture of pigs are those who eat haram. Because the pig is haram and who eats from haram come in that image.
Those who will come walking on their faces are those who work riba. Give 100 take 200. or give da`afan muda`afa. Or take your house even. They used to take your wife even. Or your children.
Those who come blind are those who give false verdicts on others. Like today we see a lot of it. On the school system, on the internet. We don’t know how old these kids are might be 20 years. Giving fatwa, giving false judgment on everyone.
And those who are deaf and dumb are those who are proud of what they have done. They come on jd unable to speak, to hear and they re blind. Summun bukmun umyun…
And those who are chewing their tongues are the scholars, like those of today, lecturers. Their tongues are long over their chests, and they are chewing on their tongues. Why? They are the ones who say what is not in their hearts and what they do not practice. They say one thing but in their hearts is something else.
Those whose hands and feet are cut are those who harmed their neighbors.
And those crucified on trunks of fire are those who try to harm people in front of the sultan.
Those are the characteristics of the people who will be resurrected on these different situations.
The good ones will be called by Allah, they will come like a full moon or like the sun shining. Those the members of the Ummat al-ijaaba. Those who accepted the Prophet and kept to his footsteps.
May Allah keep us on his footsteps, `alayhis salaam.
And as we said, the real picture of each person will appear. Your real face will appear. What is behind your true personality will appear in your physicality. Allah gave that knowledge to his beloved Prophet (s). and he knows his ummah. Those awliyaullah know what you are hiding behind your faces. They know if you are a full moon shining or you are a wild animal coming in the picture of a human being. Are you not shy when a wali looks at you. If you are not shy, then what about the prophets looking at you. Then if you are not shy of prophets, are you not shy of Allah. How dare you come and say “Allahu Akbar” when your heart is full of arrogance, pride. When you are backbiting and creating confusions and fitna around the world.
“the day when Allah is gong to call us is a confirmed day, when each comes in groups. “ That day is coming. How can you sleep when you know that Allah is going to bring you back one day. \he is going to take you to death, then bring you back from death. As soon as you die you are going to be questioned. Every time we go from here, as if we did not hear what was said. That is why sitting by yourself and remembering your lord, remembering akhira, that is what will build you up. Buying cars, changing cars, buying expensive cars will not save you. Wearing nice watches and expensive watches diamond rings and silk will save you. Showing yourself as nice, clean, in front of people will not save you.
What will save is to be nice and clean in front of Allah. Ask yourself. That is a message for us all. That is a message for all humanity. Allah saying, “you are coming in groups before the people.” You are going to be asked at that time.
Yawma tubla as-sarair. The day that the secrets are exposed. When you tried to hide, will be exposed.
Every characteristic and personality there is a picture, an image, either good or bad. You want a good picture or a bad picture. Suratun hasana aw Suratan qabiha.
You cannot say to Allah “O Allah. You created me in a nice face. That is not what you won. All you own is your `amal. Your amal is going to come in a picture. That picture is how you will come before Allah. Either good or bad.
Don’t go out from here and forget what I am saying. Going to jet ski and rpvs. Where are the toys?
O mumin! Don’t be hardhearted like stones. Be from those from whose hearts explode rivers and waters and fountains of knowledge.
And don’t be arrogant and stupid, as if you knew something, but in fact many things are far from you. Hafazta shayun wa ghaabat anka ashya’u.
Be from his sincere mukhlis servants. That is what today’s ulamas need to know. Those who become speakers today on behalf of the ummah remember this surah.
From sincere servants of Allah who take directly form Allah without intermediary can take explanation of any verse of the holy Quran directly thru their hearts, extracting from the Quran and from the hadith ash-sharif. And this level Allah gave it to chose people and they will exist until judgment day. There will be rare people in this community who can extract meanings from the holy Quran and spread it and educate people about it.
And those [he is explaining as if see in this time], there are very few who Allah raised to that reality. But the majority of scholars are not, so because of that lack, and they began to deny its existence. That is why we begin to see a lot of denial of awliyullah in this time. Denial of spirituality denied by majority of scholars and the people only take what they see externally, without looking deeply into the realities and the internal realities that Allah gave chosen people from ahl al-marifat.

Wa suyyirat al-jibaalu fa-kaanat saraaba - and the mountains shall vanish as if they were a mirage.
As we explained last time, those mountains which Allah has placed as pegs on earth to balance it, Allah is going to make them move, like a human being walks or as a bird flies. Allah is going to make them fly in the air with a speed that no one can imagine. How is that possible? When you need to raise a large piece of metal that weighs say 20 tons, how can you carry it? What do you do? You get a crane, it holds it from the top and it moves it? Allahu Akbar! Who is better you or the crane? What is making the crane to operate? It is using energy. Why cannot the energy that crane is using to lift 10 or 20 tons, carry you. Energy is energy – it is all coming from the attribute of Al-Qaadir al-Muqtadir. Any kind of energy coming from that attribute, bahr al-qudra, can move mountains.
That is why the Jabal Uhud during one of his battles, came forward and said to him “O Prophet I will hide you.” And it took it someone inside its cave and moved back. When someone like Prophet, whom there is no one like him, can make incredible things to happen. Similarly the mountain came to the Prophet and said, O Prophet I will turn to gold to support you, don’t sleep hungry.
Similarly Allah sent Sayyida Maryam her sustenance in her mihrab without her making any effort, as a result of her perfect worship.
So don’t think it is too great for Allah. Allah will pull those mountains by their roots, which go very deep, and make them like they are non-existent, making the mountains to blow away as if they never existed. And still human beings are arrogant.
Fa-kaanat saraaba – It means its physicality is gone. What is left of it is gone. Our physicality is going to pass one day. What will be left is our `amal. What is left is our spirit. That is going to stay. Allah will give you another body for barzakh. Between dunya and akhira, there is another lifetime. There he will give you a life, special life, hayatun barzakhiyya. And you will be living there. Either your grave will be a garden from the gardens of paradise of hufr min an-nar, a ditch from hellfire.
So at that time, the reality of that mountain will disappear. In another verse, Allah said, fabusital-jibaalu bassa, wa kaanta… It will become as dust. The mountains will be like poweder. What kind of thinking will Allah send on earth to make mountains crushed to dust and habain munbatha, spread out in space, disappeared. That gives something here which we explained before – when Allah will explode these mountains they disappeared and vanish. What made them to vanish? Iradataullah made them vanish.
When that big bang came at the beginning, it was kun fayakun. When that explosion happened like a bomb, all these universes appeared. Planets stars moons suns, galaxies. But look at the difference. Scientists cannot understand that. What stopped them in their places? We know that when there is an explosion, all the pieces will be flying apart and never stopping. What wisdom and hikmat stopped them into a certain time and location, every planet in its place?
What Allah swt did, it means that scientifically, when you have a vacuum and you bring a ball and throw it in an environment, where there is no friction, it will go forever, without stopping. That frictionless and lack of great gravitational force, what stopped the stars and sun from moving from their places.
Look on the sun. It is continuous atomic reaction that is causing ongoing explosions, millions of times stronger than the atomic explosions, yet it is not shattered, it does not fly apart.
They know if they throw on earth bombs one-millionth the power of the sun, the entire earth will be shattered. What is holding the sun in its place? Allah is holding thru his qurdar. And when he wishes to shatter everything to dust, he will let it go and it will be like dust, like a mirage. There is no force that can hold them. What held them before which was Allah’s iradat, therefore their substance is unable to hold together. What exists at that time is their reality.
Don’t be like a mirage. If you are really on the right path Allah will make you like a mountain. People will know you, will remember you- that person was a mountain. What remains from a mountain when it goes – its name remains, its remembrance. SubhanAllah.
The first that happens when Allah wants these mountains to disappear, they will blow up and shatter into pieces. “Wa humilat al-ardu wa dukata dukatan wahida. The earth will be blown to dust in one moment.”
Second state of the earth when it goes into pieces, it will become like ihnil manfush. When you prepare the dough it will be like that, very soft and mushy.
Third, when it rises like that and becomes mushy, rising, Allah will make it haba’ – disappearing and crushed. When that bread is risen, you can crush it and it becomes very small.
Fourth, it will be blown up and Allah will send a wind to move the mountains, which are in particles.
Fifth the wind will carry it to the highest level possible and carry it to the vacuum of space where it will no longer be seen again.
Sixth is to become a mirage, no longer existing in this world.
It also means those who left behind their egoes, when Sayyidina Musa asked Allah “O my Lord let me see you.” He replied, “You cannot see but look a the mountain. If it can carry me…” and when Allah sent his vision on the mountain, it was completely crushed to dust and Musa fainted.
Some tafsirs, they say that when Musa fainted, he saw 124,000 prophets making sajda and above them 313 prophets and above them all was the Prophet (s). that mountain was the self of Sayyidina Musa, his desire, his existence. So Allah wanted that existence to disappear in Allah’s presence. That there is no more Musa, only existing in Allah’s existence, through worship, annihilated, in the maqam al-fana, then Allah will unveil for him to see what is really taking place, and he saw all these prophets in their worship.
So anyone who destroys that mountain of the go within himself, when that mountain of egoism and selfishness then he can reach the level of non-existence. It becomes sara, in meraj, as if he is existing in dunya, but in fact he is not existing, his only desire is for Allah swt. That is al-ishk al-mutlaq, no desire except for Allah swt. That is the level of awliya.
This surah is pointing to the awliya. When Allah crushed the ego completely, destroy it within the servant, he will carry him as Allah carries the dust in the skies, sending the reeh as-siba, the breeze of youth, to carry that person to high levels in the divine presence, annihilated there.
That is why they make a mistake and he mentioned it here, “those who have been veiled from these realities, when they see the people of annihilation in the divine presence, eating as they eat, drinking as they drink they think ‘these people are like us.’ They don’t realize that the egoes of these people have completely disappeared. They don’t realize that they differ form them and that is why they don’t recognize them as awliyaullah. They eat we eat. They drink we drink. Therefore he mentioned that at that time hundreds of years ago.
That is a predication that they will even say that Allah has criticized the Prophet (s) in Surat `abasa. They do not realize his status; they say he was given a message, delivered and then has passed on. They are mahjubun from what is in the heart of the Prophets and awliya and therefore do not recognize them in any way. “They will have about them bad thoughts.”
“There is a big difference between them and awliyaullah, whose mountain of the self has been moved from the earth of physicality. That mountain is rooted in the earth of the body. So here he is saying “what a huge difference between ordinary people and the awliyaullah.”
When Allah swt destroys al-ardul jasaddiyya, when Allah will free that servant there is no longer any more attachment between the self and the body, that person will be moving freely as he wants. When others who did not reach that level will see him eating “like us”, drinking “like us”… working like us. They do not understand that person went into a process of suluk of the seekers which uprooted the mountain of the self form the earth of the body and makes it completely dust, at that time the skies of their spirits will be opened to new doors in their hearts. At that time they will reach the five levels of the heart. Qalb, sirr, sirr as-sirr, khafa, akhfa.
Qalb is the general level which everyone has. Then the sirr, secret level, which only awliayyullah can reach. Then…
They will enter these doors which allow them to reach the presence of their lord. They will be in the divine presence of their lord and Allah swt will support them. Than Allah sends them back from these high levels, at which they can everything that is going below them, so the higher they ascend, they are able to see the realities of all that is below them and they begin to perceive the reality of sainthood, and as they begin to see it, they will be able to enter the mind, the imagination, the power of memorization and the power of remembrance, like these computers today. Allah is describing how people at these levels will be able to think and memorize and to store all kinds of information in memory and that is in the maqam of k`aba qawsain m`a al-khalq. When they begin to enter all these powers that Allah gave them, then they do that with every one of the human beings, and they reach a level of k`aba qawsain ma`a al-khalq, nearer to the creation by 2 bows length. That is why they say awliyaullah can reach anyone. They will reach that level, sharing with every person his mind, heart, imagination, thought and memorization and store it all in their memory like a computer of today.
Al-aql wal qalb wal khayl wal mutafaakira wal mudhakira.
At that time they will be with everyone. With all that they will never be veiled from their lord, even while they are with all these people. That is the meaning of sainthood. This is for awliyaullah. What then do you think about prophets? What about Say Muhammad?
Inna jahannama kaanat mirsaada. After you reach these high levels, then you are saved from any evil power. Because “indeed we made hellfire as a place of ambush. ” – that means every evil power is ready to catch you. When I take you to these high levels, then evil and devils are waiting to take you back be careful. But devils cannot take awliyaullah. Don’t think that devils can take the awliyaullah, but they can make mistakes. They don’t’ do it intentionally but they make it by mistake.
That means that jahannam is ready for everyone. It is waiting to pull them into hellfire, in a sneak attack (ambush). It is like an observatory, a huge observatory. Allah gave jahannam power to observe and to catch anyone. In it it observes everything. And the angels and guardians of the fire are ready and waiting to catch someone, pull him into hell and to torture him.
li-taagheena ma’aba – for the transgressors a final destination. It is the final destination for anyone who is a transgressor. It was like an observatory, but when it catches you it is your time for hellfire.
Dunya is hell for mumin and paradise for kaafir. Akhira is hell for kaafir and paradise for the believer.

Allah swt – His Greatness cannot be described. We are so small on this planet earth where al human beings are living is like a small atom, a particle. It does not even have an existence compared to the universe. It is so small.
And all of, look at the adhamatillah, He put all of us on that small particle, that small atom compared to the universe. And he put the perfect person, who si the exemplar of servanthood, descried by Muhammadu Rasulullah on that planet with all of us. Allah is so great, there is no way to descry e his greatness. It is impossible.
Subhanallah. Allah swt from His Greatness, when He said, “yawma tubla as-sara’ir. Fa maa lahum min quwattin wa laa naasir.” – “When everything hidden is going to appear.” When you try to hide what is in your sirr, it is one day going to come out. So on that day the way your amal is your image will be hasanat al-mazhar. It depends on the level of your amal in this world.
O mumin – don’t have a hard heart. A heart like a rock. Because one day Allah is bringing out what you have done in this dunya, good or bad. Make your heart like a fountain of water, like a fountain out of a rock, that inabi al-hikam gush from it. Don’t be like those who said about them “arafta/hafadhta shayan wa ghaaba anka ashayan katheeran.” He sent this Prophet to tell us, yawma tubla as-sara’ir. There is coming a day when all will be shown about you. Like today there are people who think they are owners of this universe. They don’t accept from anyone.
There are some awliyaullah who cannot take from Alalh directly from the inspiration to their hearts bi laa waasita. And these people whom Allah inspired their hearts know a lot of things. those who do not know a lot deny awliya-ullah. Today there are people who deny everything they do not know they deny everything they don’t know.
Don’t run after graphic arts. They are going to stay in dunya. They are in fact experts at making pictures that are nice but in fact they are not nice. You might open a website that looks very nice but when you enter it is very ugly. Don’t look at those designers who look nice from the outside but on the inside are rotten.
Designers are going to disappear and what is left is what is inside.
Wa futihat is-samaa’a fa-kaanat abwaaba. – the heavens were opened and a lot of doors were through it. [we explained last time.] and the heavens shall be opened and they will be as gates and the mountains will be moved from their places and they will be like miraj.”
Allah swt opened the eheavens and angels will come out, and they will have a way to come down. Why ? the day of judgment came. Allah swt ordered the eangels to come down and to move this earth. We said last time, that when the earth was unstable, Allah put mountains on it to make it stable. So these mountains, when Allah orders for earth to disappear, He orders the angles to remove the mountains. “wa suyyirat al-jibaalu fa-kaanat saraaba”. How can mountains move? A huge mountain you see in front of you – how can you imagine that mountain moving? You cannot. They say how will the mountain be moving and disappearing. To move something you need to give a higher power in order to move it. Else it will not move. So today when we are seeing mountains physically moved, they are not moved completely, in our time, some mountains are moved. How are they moved? By volcanoes – by eruptions from within, blowing it up and opening that mountain and making a hole in it and erupting. So what becomes of the rocks that come from within the mountain. It becomes like dust and ashes and rock and melted lava. From where is this coming? From hundreds and thousands of feet underground. A volcano can erupt from a mountain and make that mountain crack. What else can move a mountain? Earthquakes. They can break mountains down.
Angels are holding the roots of mountains.
As they found today, there are black holes in the universe. Now the physicists say that not only are they black holes, they are haba’ik, strings, threads, wrapped together.
Also mountains on earth have roots. If angels have roots, the whole mountain [chains] will move. That is why it came first, the heavens are opened and was like gates. Then the angels come down. Now if you take a string and shake it the other end will move if it is hundreds of feet away. They move mountains like that.
Was suyyirat il-jibaalu fa-kaanat saraaba. Allah orders the mountain to move by angels to move it. What happens then. It erupus from inside and becomes like dust. Spreading everywhere. It becomes like a miraj. The mountain was there – what happened. The dust became like ashes, and you can still see the ashes. But He said, it became a miraj. It completely disappeared. When it becomes dust, Allah sends a wind, and when that wind comes, it moves it completely from its place, like dust blown from one place to another. Now that mountain, which was there, was moved completely.
Was suyyirat il-jibaalu fa-kaanat saraaba. – the other meaning which Awliyaullh are seeking. Was suyyirat il-jibaalu - these mountains are the self of the ego. When someone is progressing thru worship and seeking the way to Allah what will Allah do. He will open the heavens for him and it will become like gates. Then it is “come o my servant, to me thru any gate you like.” So how do you enter heavens with your ego? It shall be opened to you if you are seeking My way. Obeying Me, obeying My Prophet and obeying your shuyukh who are guiding you to the Prophet (s) who is guiding you to Allah.
Wa maa yantiqu an ilhawa in huwa illa wahyun yuha.
Wa kaana qaaba qawasayni wa adna.
Follow, imitate his way. Follow his way of obedience, obey allah, prophet, saints, and He will open his doors, “come to me”. When you come to Him then “was suyyirat aljibaal…”
At that time He will erupt the ego from your heart and throw it out of your heart. It was controlling your whole body from within. An-nafs al-ammaara. 4 enemies, nafs.. dunya.
Are the 4 enemies that are woven with your body and your spirit. So how to blow them out? Allah will blow them out when you follow his way. Like a volcano, it will erupt from within you and it will become like a mirja an you will be free from it. At atht time you will reach the level of mahabbatallah, mahabbatal-habib… at that time you wil lreach anninhilation in bahr alqudra. You be under that attribute al-rahman ar-raheem. Then Allah swt will build you up as if you are like a miraj. You are present but in fact you have no ego. You eat like people eat and drink like people drink, ahl adh-dhaahir, but in reality your reality ishidden. Like today people are people of outer, lost spirituality and tazkiyyat an-nafs.
By moving toward Allah swt, reeyaah. Al inayat taati wa tazeed anfaas anfusihim. The fountain of youth that comes with that nice breeze ewill take you towards the remembrance of Allah swt. At that time futihat us-sama’u arwaahihim… the heavens shall be opened and became as gates.” Like doors. This means the heavens of the self, will be opened from one layer to the next layer and each layer is a secret in itself. The awliya described the layers of the heart as five: qalb – where everyone sees the other as the same. Shaytan enters there, gossiping enters there and all of us are at the same level there, we cannot see any difference. But when you are seeking allah in the right direction, allah opens the layers. It is not one layer that one sees. It is a particle, the essence of the heart is like a dot and that dot has millions of dots in it.
In physics, a dot, if looked under a microscope it is seen as a big circle. If you look at bigger microscope you see a Huge circle.
The first layer is qalb, then secret, as-sirr. Then sirr as-sirr. Then khafa and then akhfa.
Allah opens each layer in turn. Secret is – when that layer is opened it is a secret. It is not for ordinary people to know awwaam. It is only for rijaalun sadaqu ma `ahadallah alayh.
They can hear, with a special hearing given to gthem by Allah. They can see with a special seeing. According to the hadith, “maa zaala `abdee yata..”
You can see what no one can see, and hear what no one can hear. Then there is the secret of the secret, a higher layer. Then there is khafa, and whatever the Prophet (s) wants to give he gives. Finally there is akhfa, that is the presence of Allah.
Allah makes these gates for you to enter his Heavens. Then you can collect treasures. When He bestows all these blessing on you, dresses from the beautiful Divine Attributes and the lights they contain, then He will tell you O my servant go and serve my Creatino. Serve ummatan nabi.
So what do they do? They send you. Seekers reach a level and state of ecstasy. They are in the state where they only see the beauty and mercy of Allah swt. They see that bahr al-ilm. That fountain of knowledge from which they quench their thirst. Allah swt dresses them and then he sends from these high levels where they have tasted this taste – go now an serve my servants. How? I am giving power to reach their minds, their hearts, their imagination, their memorization, their hidden knowledge.
He described these as 6 levels. Aql, khayal, mufakkira, muhafidha, mudhaakira. (memory) . these are 6 ;levels that Allah will give you to guide your followers. How can you guide them if you cannot understand their mind, their hearts, their imagination, their heart, their intelligence?
Those who are like that, heavens open for them and Allah destroys the mountains of their egoes. Those who do not accept that then He said, “if you don’t want that, ok. Then inna jahanamma kaana mirsaaada.” Then truly hell is a place of ambush. Li-taagheena ma’aba. To the polytheists, hypocrites and criminals a place of ambush.
May Allah forgive us.

Bismillah ir-rahman ir-raheem

Mirsad, rasada shay to monitor, observatory, or hars, guardian.
Jahannam monitors the deeds of the wrongdoers.
Inna lil-mutaqeen mafaza – it does not monitor the deeds of the pious.
But it is happy to receive the wrong deeds, and each wrong deed is monitored in order that Jahannam will pull us in.
li-taagheena ma’aba – for sure, when you are in your way to something, and you say, I am returning, you have return ticket, the return is to Jahannam. If you desires in dunya are bad you will be brought there, it is up to you, you do good paradise, do bad, return ticket to Jahannam.
Understqand. They say to you, come – what have you done. You say, “I prayed 20 rakats taraweeh.” You think that Allah swt, is in need. You can do nothing for yourself. It is by Allah’s grace that you do that. Do you not think how favored those 20 rakats are in heaven. How many angels are writing rewards for such good deeds.
For those who transgress the limits, Jahannam is prepared for them. Don’t be transgressors in your daily life. Don’t transgress to your wife, children, you neighbors, follow the principles of Islam. Don’t disobey Allah swt. Laabitheena ahqaaba.
Those who transgress the limits are the mushrikeen, those who associate with Allah, those are going to be laabeitheena ahqaabaa – “they will abide in it for ages”. What is ages. A long period of time. Why do we use hiqba min az-zaman, ahqaab, in the tribal meaning of that word, in Arabic, hiqba min az-zaman, means no end. There is no end, when they want to express infinity or eternity, they use the word hiqba. Laabitheena feeha ahaqaaba means without end and there is no way out.
Now the linguistic scholars gave various meanings to ahqaab. We will express what Imam as-suyuti transmitted in ad-durr al-manthour, what Ibn `abbas said about the meaning of that word.
As we mentioned Jahannam is like an observatory monitoring your walking. And it is said that no one can enter paraqdise without passing over the bridge over Jahannam.
You cannot enter paradise until you pass over that Jahannam, that observatory.
Abu Hurayra said, “laabitheena feeha ahqaaba – al-haqab 82 years and the year is 365 days, and each day is like 1000 of the days we count. That is one haqab. Laabitheena feeha ahqaaba – means there is no way t come out.
Ibn Umar said, that the Prophet said, “Wallahi, no one will go out of hellfire until he has lived in it ahqaaba. And one hiqb is 82 or 83 years, each year with 360 days and each day is 1000 years of your counting.” Ibn Umar said aboutthis “That means that no one can go out if he is worshipping other than Allah.” [mukhaladeena fin-naar].
Laa yadhuqoona feeha bardan wa laa sharaaba.

The internal meaning, we are not wroshipping other than Allah and we are Muslims. But we are transgressors of the limits of Islam. We are doing what will be questioned on the day of judgment. That means don’t be transgressors to the limits that Allah has sent. If you are going to be transgressors you will not have the light of iman enter your heart. You will be in difficulties endlessly in this life. You see this today with the Muslims today. The muslims are in difficulties and it is continuing for ages. After Sallahuddin and Khlaid bin Waleed and Mehmet al-fatih and all these great warriors and leaders of Islam, we are falling into difficulties for ages and ages. It is an ishara, sign to us, be careful of what is coming, because of your transgressing the limits.
“Nothing cool shall they taste there in and nothing to drink but dirty water and dirty wound discharges.” They ill never feel cool or peace because of what they are doing.
Bardan – when you want to drink you want to drink cold water. With cold water the heat within you will be brought down. Bardan, is when you ask for something cold to quench your thirst. Also,if you are thirsty and you did not find water and you tried to sleep, and you slept, you wake up and the thirst is gone for some time. Therefore bardan is used for sleeping as well. It means someone is in a peaceful, cool situation and environment.
Those who are in hellfire will never sleep nor will they ever feel cool in hellfire. Instead they will be given boiling water, hardship and difficulties. And they will be tasing from the wound, the pus that emerges. That is the drink of the unbeliever. Allah swt save us from that evil end and such difficulties in this dunya, if you carry difficulties in the way of Allah, fee sabeel illah, then in akhira you will not see difficulties. You will see bardan wa salaama. If you do not carry difficulties, coming to prayer. We want to pray and finish quickly. When it comes to reading quran you postpone it. Whenever you want to do a good deed, `amilu salihan, shaytan attacks you. If you will do what you are required and more, against shaytan, and carrying that burden, coming against ego, praying in jama`at, fasting, not rushing …then you will taste coolness and peace, bardan wa sharaaba.
If you are in the way of Allah, you will be given goodness. Those unbelievers will taste hot boiling water and pus that comes out of the wounds of the bodies of those in hellfire.
La yadhuqoona feeha bardan wa laa sharaaaba..
Ibn Mas`ud related that “that pus (ghasaaqan) is a form of torture and it is the intense cold weather. When the people of the fire, if Allah sends on them that freezing cold, they are going to ask Allah swt ‘O Allah send us to hellfire in preference to this terrible cold.’”
Al-ghassaq is a valley in hellfire. In it are 30 different districts, in each district are 30 different homes, and the inhabitants move from one to another. That is what Allah swt is sending unbelievers, those who are outside his Mercy. May Allah save us and forgive us.
Ibn Mas`ud said, “if the people of hellfire or Allah would tell them they are going to sty in hellfire the number of years equal to the number of stones and pebbles in this world they would have rejoiced.” That means if every pebble would last
“And the people of paradise, if Allah informed them that He would inform them they would be left in paradise on the number of the pebbles and rocks in dunya, they would have felt sad.”
When you are young you don’t think akhira is coming. But when you get older you realize it is coming.

v. 25.
“illa hameeman wa ghasaaqa. Jaza’an wifaaqa. Innahum kaanu laa yarjoona hisaaba. Wa kadhabu bi-ayaatin kidhaaba. Wa kulla shayin ahsaynaahu kitaaba. Fadhuqu falan nazeedakum illa adhaaba.

Allah’s words that He revealed to his Prophet (s), whatever we try to describe or comment on it, our explanation remains in limits. We are weak servants and helpless and heedless of the meaning that he wanted to be known from these verses. When Allah revealed to Prophet He understood it and read to the sahaba. When they heard from the Prophet their understanding they passed on to tabi`een. And so on. So don’t expect the meaning we understand, is what the Sahaba understood or the Tabi`een understood, much less what he Prophet (s) understood from Allah.
If we look at the commentary in our hands, it is 2 pages. If we look at Ruh al-Bayaan, it starts at page 292 and goes to page 314. 22 pages. If we take other tafasir it might go to 100 pages. If we go to a higher tafsir it might go to 1000 pages. That is why the normal tafasir, what is available today for all to read and understand, gives the normal meaning but it does not give every incident behind the verses. Therefore we can go higher and higher in understanding. We try to limit it or it will go on for days and days. Now for Surat an-naba we went about 20 days. May Allah open our minds.
To summarize it for those who did not come last session, He said, about the unbelievers who are going to be thrown in hellfire for ages – ages here means eternal life. That is for kufaar and mushrikeen. Their sustenance there is only going to be boiling water and dirty wound discharges.
“jaza’an wifaaqa. Fa innahum kaanu la yarjuna hisaaba.”
That is appropriate punishment for their evil crimes.
What are their evil crimes. You might find non-muslims who are very pious, very honest and very sincere. But Allah says He is going to give them punishment. What is it that Allah does not like from someone, that if someone commits he is so upset from them? It is to worship other than Him or to worship someone with Him by worshipping that one. That is wheat Allah does not like – he does not like anyone to worship other than Himself. That is why He described the Prophet Muhammad as the perfect servant. Suhanalladhee asra bi-`abdihi…
So Allah likes to see from his servant humility, that he does not raise his head that only Allah exists. After 50 years or 100 years there might not be anyone here who is here today. True existence is only for Allah swt.
That is why Allah rejected their claim “`Isa bnullah”. Allah does not need a son. If there is another ilah, then they are going to fight.
Also the jews said, that `Uzayr is the son of Allah. So the Muslims said, “why do we have to go into this problem. Allah is Allah and servant is servant. If you are Allah show us what you can create.”
They say Say. Isa created. He did not create. By order of Allah he asked that man to revive again. Did he create creation. Did he create sun and moon and stars? Did he create a form other than a human being? The only thing he did was to rejuvenate a dead person by Allah’s order. What Allah created is there, and by His command he ordered the soul to go in by Allah’s command. He didn’t being a new form. That is why He said, “jaza’an wifaaqan”. They say there is someone like me, let that someone take them from hellfire. “I am giving what they deserve.” It is according to their behavior and understanding what they deserve. So for that reason we have to be very careful. Qul ya Ayyuhal kaafiroon. Laa `abudu ma ta`budoon. You have to make a border a limit between yourself and them. I don’t worship what you worship, but you are free to worship whom you like. Lakum deenakum wa leea deen. Don’t fight. Id`u ila sabeeli rabbika bil-hikamti wa ma’widhatun hasana.” You take what you believe in and muslims will take what they believe in.
Jaza’an wifaaqan. Wifaaqan in Arabic means recompensing according to what they have done. So if you do something good –Allah has to give you accordingly. And if you do what is bad, you will receive in proportion to what you have done of good.
And in previous verse, they are condemned for ages and ages in hellfire. There is not one to pull them out. That is what they deserve.
They thought that no one is going to bring them to judgment. Today, everyone, believers and unbelievers, I t applies to us also “for verily they used not to look for a reckoning.”
We also, as Muslims, though we believe in Allah and in the |Prophet, but the human being do not think that one day someone is going to ask them what they have done in this dunya. When I was young nothing comes to my mind. Young people today never think I will one day be old and death is going to chase me.
It is to your advantage, you young people here, to remember that Allah is going to call you one day and ask you. Old people they can no longer do anything. “ they never thought they would b asked.” You have to teach these children. I like these young children the Bosnians, they come and pray and listen.
Normal children they are so busy, in what I don’t know. They don’t think one day Allah is going to call you. So unbelievers never thought that one they are going to be called .
So he throws them away for ages. And I am not going to recognize you. As you did not recognize Me. I am leaving you in adhab and not pulling you out. And “innahum kaanu laa yarjoona hisaaba” they never acknowledged that there is judgment Day. And they never thought that one day Allah is going to judge them. So when someone does not think Allah will judge him what do they do. Naked television, naked discos, drinking, womanizing, everything that Allah prohibited they do. Under the name of what? Civilization! That is civilization that is good, but that is jahannam civilization. Not jannat civilization. Jannat civilization is to not do what Allah prohibited. Today they see that the young people are smoking drugs you don’t even know what it is. I saw one young person doing marijuana. I said, how are you doing that? He said, why? I said it is haram. He said, it is? But my father does it. Why? Because he is in pain.
All the naked artists are going to be there in jahannam. That is a civilization. And wounds from which pus is pouring out and burning. If we want jannat civilization we must be decent. We must pray, fast, charity, hajj, not to cheat, and not to break our covenant that Allah is our creator and we are his servant.
For that reason they used to do everything from what is forbidden and they never observed anything from what is ordered.
Even form us who are Muslims that say la ilaha… are committing sins. They do not pray.
These will be in hellfire for some time. May Allah protect us.
Wa kadhabu bi-ayaatina kidhaaba.
And they believed in whatever verses revelations that we brought of signs they rejected.
The Prophet (s) showed them signs and the prophets before them brought them signs, but they said, “no, we are not accepting.” Kidhaba is repeated twice in the verse. It means they lied and continue lying and they will never stop lying. Whatever we brought of signs they rejected. For that they were confirming that they were kaafir. So that is why they have been punished with the highest manner of punishment. When we hear that and read that and think about it we see ourselves that we are worried about ourselves.
People are busy in their lives. They never remember their Lord.
Look this is 10th volume and each is over 1000 pages. This is the last volume. It is over 10000 pages of tafseer of the Holy Quran which is 500 pages. There are tafsir which are 27,000 pages. Where are we going? What are we going to do with ourselves when we see these signs in front of us and we are running in this dunya and not remembering Allah.
“Wa kulla shayin ahsaynaahu kitaaba.” You lied and continued lying and you never thought that there is a judgment Day but all things we have recorded in a book.
It means that there is a huge book in which Allah recorded the `amal of bani Adam. So when in a country you go in a public hearing there is something – a public record. What does that mean? It is available for all to see and read. It cannot be changed.
Allah said, “everything we have recorded in a book.” So when that book is opened, everyone is going to see what you have done. Wa laa sagheeratin wa laa kabeeratin ill fee kitaabin mubeen. Everything small or large is recorded from the day you become mature until you die. Whey you are young it is not. But if you are a convert it is not. Only from the day you convert until you die.
Once I was in a meeting like this. A man came and asked, “can I come next time?” I said “Yes.” Then he came next meeting the following week. At the end of the meeting he was happy and said, “I want to be muslim. He prayed with us and said shahada. 3rd week he did not come. 4th week he did not come. I asked. Someone said, the Sunday before the 3rd week, he died. That one entered paradise. But not everyone is like that. Wa kulla shayin ahsaynaahu kitabaa.
You cannot say “I did not do that” look angels are ma`sumeen. What is your answer? I am asking yourself and everyone. Think about what you have done? Can your amal save you. Me? No
That is why we need rahmatullah. Allah’s rahma is what saves us. So kulla shayin… kitaba.” ‘Kitaba’ means written. Not just in a book. Everything is written. Even if you say one word it is written. Every word and speech of your speech it is written and every movement. If you salaam alaykum, it is there, if you say Allahu akbar it is there. What kind of book is this. This is not a book any more. It is a system monitor. Now they hook you up to instruments and detect your impulses..lie detector. They determine what changes whey you say this word or that. More than computer. Complicated computer. Everything that you are downloading in or typing. Normal computer can bring that out. But there is no computer which can understand every cell of your body and how the desire moved you to do this or do that. But that is Allah’s book. That computer monitoring you is a duplicate of you, whatever you have done it has its plusses and its minuses. Then on Judgment DAy they just press the button and like today they have statistics and polls, they can check your deed. It gives the summary the answer. Plus or minus. What do you want? You want to be positive.
SubhanAllah how they teach thing in a way to destroy our teachings for the muslims. Even in these little things. Whatever you say plus is a cross shape. So they throw that into education to make children to memorize the image of the cross. So that is why I don’t like to say plus. Say positive or negative. Now when you add something what do you do. 9 + 3. they put the cross in the middle. So children in their studies are seeing constantly the cross. Why? And muslims are heedless. Go to muslim newspaper – they put plus and minus. Even plus coming to that. To every part of your life now.
Even that plus is going to be responsible for that. Why are you teaching them a cross? Whey are your teaching your children like that?
You are going to be responsible for your children. Everything in our life today as muslims we have problems. Nothing will save us but shafa` of the Prophet (s) and Allah’s mercy.
May Allah save us and protect us, bi-hurmatil fatiah.


Truly hell is a place of ambush, a dwelling place for taghoon like polytheists and unbelievers they shall therein forever. Nothing cool shall they taste therein…for verily they never used to look for a reckoning.

Truly hell is a place of ambush.” Let us look at the meaning this time from a different angle, that we did not introduce last session. Jahannam is a place where there is a torturing system going on. It is a place where adhaab, punishment is taking place. That is the meaning of jahannam. It is the opposite of Jannat. Jannat is a paradise where you have peacefulness. Jahanamm is a place of punishment, pain and suffering. So jahannam is not only from the angle of last time, when we explained it according to the “normal” explanation that is the palce where unbelievers who disbelieve or those who disobey Allah swt or those kufar will be sent to hellfire. Muslims or mumins will reach paradise only after crossing the bridge, as-sirat.
Jahannam is a metaphor for suffering. Ahl al-haqa’iq, those who can penetrate thru people’s heart and understand their minds and study the self of these people to understand them, it is known that jahannam is at-tabi`at al-haywaaniyya. The animal nauter of hyuman beings. That animaly that is within ourselves is described as jahannam. And khazanata jahannam, in jahannam there are angels who look after jahannam, who punish and torture those who disobeyed their lord. For the self, the ego of the self is like those who have been thrown into the fire of the self. It is our ego that has been thrown inside, the animal nature of the self and we are under its control. And those who are destroying the self are the enemies that Allah swt, disboyed Him. who disobeys you in your life and you will deserver to feel torture in this life: nafs,dunya, hawa and shaytan. These 4 enemies which exist inside yuou are torturing you and abusing you and making you disobey Allah swt, as if your self is becoming a place under their control.
As if someone who enteres paradise, his self is pure, his body is pure his afs is pure, all is under his control. But for one entering jahannam, he is under control of nafs, ego, dunya shaytan, that is under hypocrisy, believing in jabr, that you can have union with Allah and other innovations – that is coming aginst Allah’s will.
Laabitheena feeha ahqaaqba. That animal side of you is like a jhanam to you and your four controllers: nafs.. that enables you to pull yo out of hukm ash-shariah. You are not going to listen to anyone but yourself. You will be under the hands of shaytan and your ego for ages. Laabitheena feeha ahqaaba. As long as you are under the control of these four enemies you are living there. That pulls out the reality from you. To reach the divine presence, to reach the door oft eh Prophet (s), that will be blocked andit will never be opened to you. Why because you live in such stupidity for ages, and never that wil be opened to you
Nothing cool they have to drink… you are blocked from presence of th eProphet meaning you are never going to taste something cool. That is bard alyaqeen. That will be a veil from the truth. Wabud Allah hatta yaatteeyak al-yaqeen. Worhsop Allah until death comes to you. That means worship Allah until death comes. That means don’t leave your obligation for all your life. Then when you die, Allah will open everything for you and you live forever.
Something cool, is something you like, like someone given cool water when he is thirst. That is for someone who lets his ego die in this life. Like Say. Abu Bakr, as Prophet (s) said, “if you want to see someone who died before he died.” H was always running after the Rpohpet (s). He gave everything for the Prophet. If you follow his footsteps you will reach bard alyaqeen. But if you are goig to be blind, then your body is like a jahannam for your ego. That means that the four enemies are the wood of the jahannam of the self. Then you will never taste the coolness of reality in your life. The drink mentioned here mentions the sharaab al-mahaba. The taste of love. Whenyou drink something sour, you drink it out of love. For the sake of his lover he drinks what is sour, he carries difficulties. For the love of Allah and the Prohpet you carry difficulties. If you are going to be in the state of ignoranc you wll never tast the dirinkg of love and the coolness of realtiy and trustworthiness. Why? Because you are deeply involved in dunay and its love. Why? Becaue the nature of the self is holding you in its hellfire. That body is like a cage that is burning frominside and does not let you out. That love of dunay is feul for that tjahanam which is part of the self.
Hameeman is described except boiling water and dirty wound discharges. That is opposite of cool water. Bard alyaqeen is unveling and experience of reality. The opposite of that is ignorance. Boilding water is only to live in ignorance because of the love of dunya which is the fuel fot he nature boiing inside you.
Wa ghasaaqa – dirty wounds is something on one wants to see. When you see someone with dirty wounds and pus, you want to trun your face and in fact that is darkness. That is the dark side you don’t want to see. That is what you will be given when you seek love of dunya.
Jaza’an wifaaqa. That is the compensatio you will be rewarded is ignorance and darkness. Never will your reach realtiy and certainity. “for verily they never used to look for a reckoning.” Also for us we never we wanted to raeach the door of the Prophet. We never set our goal is to reach Allah’s door. We always went after dunay. That means they never thought there will be a reckoning. Because they are completely dumped in the love of dunya. “and everything we said they disbelieved.” – they were looking at so many signs to envourage them to look beyond dunya but they refused, they said it was not true. That is why ignorant people when they see awliya, can get certainty and truth, can get the drink of mahabatllah and they become lovers of Allah and the Prophet, these people are unable to understand it. Wa kadhabu bi-ayyaatina kidhaba. They never accepted any sign. Allah describe the awliyaullah, “alaa awliya-ullahi laa khawfan wa laa hum yahzanoon.” Those who never reached that level, cannot believe it and cannot se it. If they cannot see it they don’t beliver. But if they look at the life of Sahaba and those who followed the Prophet they can understand and they can reach it.
“verily everything has been recorded.” It means every work of the 4 enemies against the self has been recorded in the heart. That is why awliya-ullah thru their dhikr, were given a special code, like dua, and al-mathurat al-ad`iyya. These used in a different way showed them or told them what is wrong in their system. Like a dentist, when you have teeth gone, they introduced new method, implanting. I never believed it until I saw it. They know how to bring back what was back and they put bake teeth that you never had anymore. Before 100 years they woul have told you you are crazy. Would peple accept that 100 years ago.No!
Allah gave awliya-ullah a special code – they have been trained. They can produce something from within the teaching of Islam and the Prophet to teach what is in yourself and to know what is wrong with yourself. Everything is recorded in a book. Yes that is for judgment day, but you can change what is in that book by asking forgiveness from Allah. “Allah will forgive all sins”
He gave you istighfaar to ask forgiveness for all of them. But if you don’t know what you did you forgot, that is a problem. So you need to make istighfaar for every wrong deed. Awliy-ullah have the code to get to that, it is in their hard drive. Pull that hard drive, open it and check it. Not everyone can check hard drives. Can everyone check it? No. everyone has a laptop, but not everyone can analyze that drive. You need those specialists, experts that know this science. When you say there are awliya they don’t believe it. If there are experts of hard drive there are experts of heart drive also. They pull out what is wrong in the heart. Then they send you message, you hasan that is your problem. You hafiz that is your…. They give you what you need. Wa kulla shayin ahsaynaahu… I gave you something you can fix, go and fix it. Don’t leave it unattended.
That is why people have notebooks in school. That is how to keep a record, a public record. That is a normal record of information but this is the angle for tafseer of the aya. The awliya can take you and pull out of the enemies of the self and jahannam, and give you the heart drive to fix it for you. That I what we nee dto be successful.
Fa-dhuqu fa lan nazeedakum ill adhaaba.
So taste you the evil results fo your actions. No increase shall we give you except in torment.” Now we give the hdidden meaning from ruh al-bayan and other tafsirs. The hidden meaning is that “if you want to keep in the jahannam fo the self. You are going to taste nothing but suffering. But if you wanted to be pulled out by awliya-ullah from the torture and punishment of the self, you must struggle. When Allah opens for you, in wa kulla shayin ahsaynaahu… whenever we opened for your heart drive to fix it. You are going to be shy from us from what you have done. Fa-dhuqu falan nazeedakum illa adhaaba. Then the nar alhasra is coming from within you the fire of love of that you have done that in disobedience of Allah. But if that time it burns you and you recognize that , then I am goingto build you up. Inna lil-muttaqqeena mafaaza. Verily for the muttaqeen is paradise.

“inna lil-muttaqeen mafaaza.” V. 31.
We have already explained about those who are going to be punished in hellfire, because they never want to accept al-haqq, the truth. And after Allah punished them in hellfire and shoed them the adhaab that He will give the unveliever. And that is for those who are eternally in hellfire. Then there are believers who committed sins I their live, and fi they did not come under shafa` of the Prophet (s), and insha-Allah all Muslims will receive that, those who believe. However, going along with our way of explanation, that punishment will be administered to believers for their sins and that might be very light, as Allah likes and no one knows His judgment on his servants.
“truly hell is a place of ambush….”
Now we come to v. 31 which is the opposite side. The side speaking about paradise.
After describing the torment, He is describing in the holy quran happiness and peacefulness. Always in holy quran we find that verses of adhab are followed by verses of mercy.
“verily for the muttaqoon will there be success. Gardens and vineyards. And companions, full-breasted maidens. And cup full of wine.” This is according to the translation of Quran from Madina. “a reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gifted according to the best of their deeds.”
So Allah said, “inna lil-mutaqeena mafaaza.” He is showing what he provided to the believers. Those who struggled in their lives. Those who were seeking in their lives who sought m`arifa, their focus was Allah and His Prophet. Those are successful in akhira. As those who study hard in dunya doctors are successful, engineers are successful, lawyers are successful. Whatever you do you find its fruit. If it is a fruitful tree. If it is something sweet you are doing you get a sweet fruit. If you are doing something sour you get a sour fruit. If you choose the way of Allah you receive sweet fruits at the end. That tree is going to blossom inside yourself. Those mutaqoon who were always in worship, and never deviated are going to find success. When Allah says “I am going to support them>” it means you will receive unlimited powers in your life. You cannot limit the meaning of mafaaza. “those who struggle in our way are going to be successful.” Successful in what. If a doctor is successful he makes millions of dollars. When you say successful mutaqee. It means that Allah gives them everything in paradises. Allah opens everything for them in heavens. He puts them with an-nabiyyeeen was-siddiqeen…
There is no limit of their success and reward. That is the literal meaning. To describe that success, in the time of the Prophet (s) – what was the best in a desert that has nothing growing-a place that is full of sand? What is the best description opposite of desert – a garden. Because they succeeded, and I a going to give them unlimited success because of their support I am giving them hadaiq, gardens. Not hadeeqa. Not one. Gardens. What does a garden contain? Sweet fruit or sour? What kind? Unlimited in number. You don’t have a garden of one tree. It must be hundreds and thousands of trees. When Allah says, “I am giving a garden” it has no limits. There is no limit to what kind of gardens He is giving. What kind of fruits is He going? Gardens of every kind of fruit that one cannot find in a desert. When the sahaba listen to this it is going to make a difference in their life.
And for us tabi`een, who are coming 1400 years later, when you hear about a garden, can there be a garden without water? What kind of water, endless rivers fo different kinds of waters. Gaseous water, cold water, mineral water, whatever man likes He gives. He is showing His Adhamat. O Muhammad I am giving that.
What kind of garden – like dunya? No that is only for people to understand. Gardens. Then He specified one fruit of that garden, because it makes a big change in the mind of people who hear it. `anaba. Grapes.
He is giving this to whom? To those who are away from unbelief. To those who try not to deviate to the way of shaytan who go to the way of Rahman.
And He specified from this garden and from all these fruitful trees, that is it full of, he specified grapes. What do we make from grapes? You make wine. In other words He promised that if you stop in dunya with what Allah forbids you I will give you that wine in the next life, but it is not a wine that does not make you drunk , but gives you heavenly pleasure.
Anhaarin min ghayri aslilin. ..ladhatin lish-shaaribeen. … wa lahum min kulli thamaraat. …fa qata` ama`ahum.
I am going to give them wine which gives pleasure to those who drink it.
When Allah forbids something you stop. Allah will give the believers in the next life something called khamra, coming from the grape. What kind of wine is that. Ladhatan li-shaaribeen. That gives a continuous pleasure to the one who drinks it. Later we will give the full explanation of that. That gives eternal unending love of Allah swt.
And I am going to give them gardens. What do the human being like? When they were in jahiliyya, what were people doing. They were running to find gardens for themselves, to find wine for themselves, and to entertain themselves, men and women from each other. Adultery.
And if we look today at the dunya, the entire dunya is like that. What are people running for? They are running either for wealth, money or for alcohol, intoxicants, running after drugs and after things to drink and running after women or men. Is there anything else? Why are people running to make money, those who are forgetting akhira? Why – to have more pleasure. To see bad movies. To go to beaches. To go and drink in these cubes and small shops, discos, something like cubes they go in. to drink and entertain themselves and to see what is haram al-munkar. This is what was in the hearts of the people from the beginning of dunya until today. Why did Habil kill Qabil. Allah gave the sister of Qabil to marry and the sister of Habil for Qabil to marry. From the beginning of the dunya it was this fight.\but allah said, “If you follow my way, what you sought in dunya of limited pleasure, of wining or dining or womanizing, what gave only a few minutes of pleasure. You cannot do it every day even. But I am giving you eternal pleasure. Never will it feel less it will feel more and more. That is why He described it with grape, meaning wine.
And qawaiba atraaba. He did not name it by name, but gave it in a subtle way. I will give you on Judgment Day what you desire. What is the most perfect age to marry. 16 or 17. I am going to give you what Allah said, what Quran is saying. This is Allah’s swt’s wisdom. “young full-breasted mature maidens of equal age.” Understood. He is giving a description of what kind of pleasure He will give you.
In tafsir Ruh al-Bayan, he says in summary, “all of them are of a certain age, and bannaatu sita` `ashara, the age of sixteen. They are going to be mature. When a girl becomes mature she becomes grown-up and she will become understanding [the pleasure of …]
As-Suyuti described qawaib – in the same age, full-breasted, mature maidens of equal age. Wa qaasan dihaaqa. The glass here means khamr, wine. For the mutaqoon is paradise and for them is a full cup of wine. Wa qawaiba atraaba – full pleasure that they will take from each other. Al-mundhiri said that ad-Dahhaak described qawaiba atraaba as virgins, girls who were never touched before.
Ibn Abbas said, “qaasan dihaaqan. If it is not for wine then it is not a cup. And Allah said, ‘a full cup’.”
La yasma`oona feeha laghwan wa laa kidhaaba. He gives you a cup of wine full, but never do they hear in it false dirty talk do they hear in it nor any lying.
Why is this mentioned here? Because when one is drunk he will say all kind of evil, lies , backbiting and bad doings. But here He described it as saying “you will have a full cup, drunk, but not losing your mind, not doing wrong and not lying. It means you have complete pleasure but you have complete consciousness. That is a big difference between wine of paradise and wine of dunya. That is why ahl al-ma`rifat are drunk in Allah’s love. That is why they always say truth because they are full from the cup of love. And we will explain from that angle next time.
Bi-hurmatil fatiha.

Bad’a al-irtifa. Al-qab… we will explain in spiritual meaning when no women are here. Read sa`ada fid-daarayn, how the sahaba used to speak with each other. They used to describe everything. That is why wahabis like that book.

We will explain now inna lil-mutaqeen mafa’za. V. 31. – v. 37.

Allah swt is describing here, for the mutaqeen He will give them.. paradises and vineyards, and mature maidens of …cup full of wine…a reward from your Lord and ample calculated gift…deeds.”
Let us look at these verses from another side. The prophet (s) said, “the most difficult/terrible verse that came describing the peoplr of the fire is v. 30 “so taste you the results of your eveil actions. No increase shall we give you except your torment.” The people of the fire will never go out of it. Those who worshipped other than Alalh, who are unbelievers, will not receive any relief from hellfire, from ages and ages on. Whenever they ask them to be released from one punishement or torture, they will be put in a torture worse that it.
But the succeeding ayat, is showing that if you want to be believers, mutaqoon, you wil have the opposeite. A reward. And He describe the reward, “gardens and vineyards.” And we explained that.
Let us see from a different angle the meaning of that “I am giving you gardens and vineyards and I am giving you to marry from most beautiful mature ladies and I am giving you a full cup of wine, which does not make you drunk so you will never speak evil or commit evil action.”
It is said by the people of seincerity and reality, in tawilaat an-najmiyya min al-khawwas, “Inna lil-mutaqeen” is describing the mutaqeen – it means those who are trying to destroy their dark egoes. To be mutaqee means you must struggle with yourself, your 4 enemies, nafs, dunya, hawa, shaytan. Those struggling against this evil, are unveling the veils and brining themselves into a reward – mafaaza. Because they are mutaqoon Allah is rewarding them, rewarding them with what? Something ath cannot be described. It is described as gardens and vineyards. But the inner meaning of gardesn is gardens of knowledge and ma`rifat. When you say I have a garden of flowers or fruit trees. This means you have unlimited flowers. If you have a garden one variety it is boring or non-interesting. Here a garden then is meant a garden of the lights of the blessings of the beautiful names and attributes of Allah’s attributes, that becomes a rainbow of colors in his heart and he is abl to move thru these colors and each one represents an ocean of knowledge. The colors we know from white to black, there is an ocean of knowledge that you cannot count. It means Allah will dress you with his beautiful names like a rainbow that dresses you . when He bestows that and embues with that – you are successful. You have achieved it – the beautiful and majesty and beauty and all other attributes that allah bestowed on you. These attributes are like gardens. These gardens are like gardens of the heart. The heat becomes gardens that uplift itself from worldly connection and uplifted to heavenly connection. When you are lifted to heaven. Connection it is different than dunya connection. When you connect to heavens, Allah will make your heart full of vineyards and trees that are full of knowledge, that are always erect. That mean syou are always ascending in knowledge mithlayni mithlayni, in ascending in knowledge.
When you are ascending in the divine presence you are knowning more and more the greatness of your lord. When you ascend, your lord wqill increase and as it increases, you become like someone who is drinking from a vineyard of love. When peopleare In love in dunya, they are drunk and get drunk. That is a metaphor to describe the purity of your love whenhe rasises you up in thath love.. you will nto be abel to see anyone at that time but the Divine Prsence. At that time you will be given qawa`iba atraaba. In the spiritual meaning it means lataif. You can ascend from one layer to another of lataif, those points in the chest. That is why many spiritual people and ascetics used these lataif to ascend or they were opened to them. These seven levels.
Each level describes one heaven until your reach each one. The secrets of each heaven will be inherited to you from the knowledge that Allah gave the Prophet from ulum al-awwaleen wal-aakhireen. When your heart becomes inspired with these seven heavens and lataif, you will be given a full cup of Allahs Love. at that time everything disappears – even you d o not know yourself. At that time ilahi anta maqsudi wa rida’ka matlubi. Your are my goal and your pleasure is my desire. There is nothing else at that time. That will be granted to your. That cup will be full of love of knowledge and ma`rifat. Never at that time will you hear whispering of dunya in your err. No more love to dunya or its pleasure, its wealth or anything belonging to it. Only your love is for Allah and His pleasure.
Today what is people’s love: their homes, how to decorate them, their children, how many cars they have, how much jewelry they have, and soon. When you are building yourself in love of Allah, then this kind of love does not exist anymore. When you have a full cup of love, then there is nothing you can put in it – it is perfect, anything else pours out. That is a perfect full moon.
At that time you will hear no gossips of shaytan. You will inherit the secrete of qul Audhu bi-rabb in-nass, ilahi nass, … from the gossips of the defile, from the gossips that they make.
At that time there is not opportunity for that gossip to come to your heart, it is gone. Because you are seeking refuge from shaytan. And this is jaza’an min rabbika at’an hisaaba. Allah is giving you that because that is what you were asking for and He is giving.
You will be taken away from the fire of this dunya. Although you don’t feel physically the heat of the dunya, in akhira if Allah will not order to be ‘bardan wa salama’ on you, as He ordered it to be cool and peaceful for Ibrahim (as), and if He had allowed it completely it would have frozen, then we will feel that heat in the grave and we will feel that heat of the dunya on jd. Allah will uplift us and save us from the heat of dunya which will be like a fire. He will reward us by separating us from the heat of dunya to the paradise of akhira.
And it is said that qawa’iba, is something that projects from the body or it has an outstanding shape, as described “full-breasted”. In the interpretation it is from the beautiful names and attributes, whatever comes out from them of knowledge and ma`rifat – it means that which was hidden, and you became mature to receive it, as a girl who has no breasts, and when she grows up, the breasts emerge. That is a description of the beauty of the knowledge that will emerge and come out when you approach the Divine Presence. That relics of the images of the names that are in the Paradises of Actions. Jannat al-afa`al. – the Garden of Beautiful actions. If you are in the garden of beautiful actions, at that time something new will emerge which was never seen before, which had been hidden and now blossomed.
And atraaba means mutasawiyya fit-tarteeb. You will be receiving equally from each of the divine name and attribute knowledge. It is not that one gives you more and another less, but you will receive evenly from each one. That means your knowledge will blossoming in equal quantities of ma`rifat from each of the beautiful names and attributes.
Wa kaasan dihaaqa. You will receive a full cup of pleasure of love and that love will be directed towards these relics of images of the knowledge that emerges from these names and attributes mixed with zanjabeel, and the fruits of paradise. They will be given a reward that has no end. Jaza’an min rabbika at’an hisaba. That is a reward given without end according to his generosity. There is nothing more delicious and tasty to them or more pleasurable than what allah has given them in that station.
Rabb us-samawaatin wal-ardi wa maa baynahuma ar-rahman. laa yamlikuna minhu khitaaba.
Lord of the Heavens and earth and what is between them. – what is between them. He did not say Rabb us-samawaati wal-ard. But he added what is between them. He specified that there is something between them. “Whatever is in heavens he is the lord of whatsoever is in between them – the most gracious.” “no one can have power to speak except one who has been given permission.”
He mentioned rububbiyya. The powerful lord. The lord is the one with power. What is in between – ar-rahma. When there will be no one there on Judgment Day to speak, laa yamliku minhu khitaaba. The only who dares speak is the one given intercession. Who is that? the Prophet (s). He is describing “wa rahmatee wasi`at kulla shay. Wa sa-aktubuhu liladheena aamanu…”
He will write that mercy for the mutaqoon. Those mutaqoon. Everyone is hoping to be mutaqee. By shafa` of the Prophet Allah will give them that station.
It means Allah who is Lord of the heavens and earth, he is the one who can give everything to heavens and earth and what is between them is his mercy. His vast unending mercy. When He gives he gives from where? I am lord of heavens and earth and what is between them, ar-rahman. The one who gives them from His favors in dunya and akhira. It came in the middle between the two, as his mercy ar-rahma, is for both dunya and akhira. Wa sakhara lakum ma fis-samawati wa maa fil-ard and what is between them – ar-rahman. It means He is the lord of the Heavens – it means when your heart becomes a fertile land for receiving lights of knowledge, then He becomes Rabb us-samawati il-arwaah. The Lord of the heavens of the heart/spirit. At that time He will send to you from the knowledge of that name to make your heart a heaven of knowledge and he is lord of the ard an-nufus – Lord of the earth of the selves.
Heaven represents the souls and earth represents the ego. The lord of the heavens of the souls and the earth of the egoes and what is between them. What is between the heaven of the soul and the earth of the ego – that is the secret of the heart, sirr al qalb. Between the heavens and earth is the heart of the mumin, for He said, “neither heavens nor earth contained me but the heart contained me.”
What are the pillars of the heart. The name al-Rahman. That name describes all sorts of beauty and majesty because it is situated between the name Allah, which encompasses all the name and attributes, and the name ar-raheem, which describes His special mercy to believers.
What is between the heart and heaven of soul is the light of the name ar-rahman.

Rabb us-samawaatin wal-ardi wa maa baynahuma ar-rahman. laa yamlikuna minhu khitaaba.
Lord of the Heavens and earth and what is between them. the most gracious with whom no one dare to speak except by his leave.”

Heavens is something that relates to akhira and earth is something that relates to this world, creation and this life. And He mentioned “and what is between them, the most Gracious.” Al-Rahman is between them. From His Rahma, He is going to give from his external provisions and sustenance and inner provision and knowledge to those who are able to quench their thirst from the Beautiful Name ar-Rahman.
In another interpretation of Ruh al-Bayan, samawaat means something high, that related to akhira. The arwaah are also related to akhira as in inna lillah wa inna ilayhi raji`oon.
He is Lord of the souls and the Lord of the body – the ego. He is the lord of the souls and lord of the egoes or the bodies.
Wa ma baynahuma. What is between souls and our bodies – how do they relate to each other? Thru the heart. And the heart relates thru the secret. The heart has a form of flesh, but the secret of the heart, as to how the heart with all these realities and knowledge, we don’t know.
So the Prophet said, “as long as my servant approaches me thru voluntary worship. … I will become his ears which he hears with..
The sustenance of the heart is the beautiful name ar-Rahman. In that name both majesty and beauty are untied. He will there fore bestow on his servants beauty and love. That is why awliyaullah always asked to be dressed with rida-ullah – that is the two tajallis: tajalli-al-jamaal and tajalli al-jalal.
No one will speak except who has been given permission. That means that Allah is the owner of that day. They cannot say anything in Allah’s presence. Why? Because they see the greatness and blessing that allah has bestowed on human beings in this dunya. Why- they see what he gave them and they feel ashamed.
No one of human and angel can say a word.except he whom allah gives to speak.
Thus we see al-kibriyya is for Allah. No one can stand up in his presence. No one can say “make it less punishment of more reward – it is up to him.” no one can aske about thawaab and `iqaab. That does not deny shafa`, intercession, as that is for the Prophet (s).
Yawm yaqum ur-ruh wal-mala’ikatu saffan. The day when Jibreel and the angels stand foth in rows and he will not speak except what is right.
Most scholars say ar-ruh is say. Jibreel (as), and others say he is a creation of allah that is greater than the angels. But he is greater in respect of creation, greatness and having a higher honor and prestige from Allah.
Ar-ruh is like a sultan to his subjects. That is the difference between ar-ruh and angels. Sultan to his servants. There are rows, two kinds – the ruh in one and the rest of the angels in the rest.
La yatakallamoona illa man adhina lahur-rahmanu wa qaala sawaba. No one will be allowed to speak except whom the most Gracious permits and speaks what is good. Allah swt, has that permission in his hands. Whoever He gives permission to speak from samawati or ard. Whoever is given permission to speak will say the truth, and something He is pleased to hear.
What does Allah most like to hear? Kalimat at-tawheed. Who is most apt to say kalimat at-tawheed? He is the perfect creation Sayyidina Muhammad. He will say kalimat at-tawheed and kalimat ash-shahada. Those who said kalimat at-tawheed and kalimat ash-shahahda are the believers and they will follow the Prophet and those who did not or do not are the unbelievers who will be punished for not saying it.
It is said that there are some people who are selected in this dunya, who all their life were in progress, seeking the way of Allah. Never was there something on their tongues except kalimat at-tawheed. Can you imagine someone who from childhood to death, said, kalimat at-tawheed without topping never moving his tongue with other than that.
There are people like that. Their tongue never moved except with kalimat at-tawheed.
Those people who remember Allah from men and women, adh-dhaakireenallaha khatheera wadh-dhaakiraat.
La yatakalamoona illa man adhina lahur-rahman wa qaala sawaaba.
Those whill be given permission to speak up. They will open their mouths and speak what Allah wants them to say – the right thing. They are either angels or human, and have permission to speak.
Ibn Ata as-sakandari said, “the topmost pronounced word is what is said for Allah. The correct way is what is on the way of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (as-sawwaaab). On the day no one can speak except he who is given permission, all are made under that tajalli of adhama, of greatness. Only the khawaas who are rijaalun sadaqu ma `ahad-allaha `alayh. They will be under the tajalli of jalal and jamal. Like a big rainbow of the attributes of majesty and beauty.
It is said that since we described rabbus samawati wal ard and the earth is the ego, and what is between is the secret and the heart. La yamlikoona minhu khitaaba – in this interpret. Means the secret and the heart have no permission to intercede on behalf o the four enemies, nafs, dunya, hawa, shaytan. These have no permission to intercede on their mureeds until the permission comes from Allah. Many mureeds say “I am follower of that shaykh, etc.” but they do not act accept on permission of allah, iradatullah.
They don’t give that permission until the mureed is making progress he has to work for it. He does not say, “I will sit and wait for Allah to eliminate my four enemies.”
No, that will not be given to someone who is critical all the time. Never surrendering. Wife does not surrender to her husband, husband does ont surrender to his shaykh, shaykh does not surrender to the Prophet. If you kill that complaining in yourself then he has permission to intercede for you. Else he leaves you. If people are not doing their awraad even. Where is 100 times ya halim, 100 times … 500 times alhamdulillah, 500 times istaghfirullah, where is 500… salawat, or allah allah. And you come and say I am doing well. That is why you are always in depression and stressed out. People are stressed out today and doing noting but taking medicine. There is nothing to be depressed from when you are with Allah and Prophet (s).
Rabia al-adawiyya, how much her husband gave her a hard time. He comes home drunk. She never says not one word. She brings him water, standing to give him water all night. She is doing it for Allah, for love of the Prophet, for love of her shaykh. Tht is done out of sincerity. What did Allah give her back, he opened to her vision. When he woke up, “what are you doing here? Still here?” she never complained even. He threw her out. How much we complain. And we say we are this and we are that. Look at his jubba today. We have hard heads. That head does not work – stubborn. When you are stubborn he sends a hammer on you. When you have a soft head, then he sends a sponge on your head. You must have difficulties, this is dunya. If not accepting then sending a hammer. If you surrender he sends “ la yatakalamoona” they don’t say one word. Except the one whom is given permission. And what do they say, “sawaaba” the right thing. So why are we speaking? Why are we quarrelling and debating – for dunya. Jealous of what. Fighting fo what. You are not gong to change anything. What is will of allah is his will. When you are satisfied then Allah is satisfied with you. Allahu akbar.
So we said, Allah sent at that time guidance to those who are trying to seek his way by struggling with nafs, hawa,dunya shaytan. Then he orders those who are carrying the secret of hearts to intercede and guide you.
Look at Say. Nuh, allah did not give him permission when he asked about his son. Qala ya bunaya arqab m`aya …qala la `aasima min amrillah…kaana min al-mughriqeen. Qeela ya ardu…bu`dan lil-qawm idh-dhaalimeen… inna ibnu min ahlee…. Hakimeen.
He said, “come my son ride on the boat with us. He said, ‘no, I will find a way on the mountain and hide and it will protect me from the flood.’ Nuh said, ‘there is no protection this day from Allah’s order.’ “
You cannot give yourself a way out. There is no way out with your mind. You cannot use your mind for getting out. Spirituality and shariah, there is rules and discipline – there is no way out of Allah’s order today. What happened. A huge wave cam and took the son away. Then Allah ordered the earth to swallow up the flood. Then Say. Nuh called on Allah, ‘he is my son and he is from my family.’ He said, ‘innahu laysa in ahlik. Innahu `aamilun laysa saalih’ He did something not correct. How are we going to hide from Allah swt. We always seek to find a way out. We always us our mind, not realizing the mind does not work. The mind is under the control of the four enemies. The ego, the pleasure of the world, desire and the devil, evil. So don’t listen to your shaytan when he comes to inspire you. “my subject. I am the one to listen to. Listen to me.” We say, “yes, yes, what do you want? We will obey.” Shaytan coms and says, “listen to me! Are you better than adam. Listen to me. Keep problems everywhere. Keep confusion around the world.” Leave the world. He is making confusion in homes, between husband and wife brother and brother and sister …etc. then when he sees two people fighting, “hehehe I am happy.” That is it. He has a lot of tricks. He cannot see anyone seeing happily except that he makes a trick. Put in his mouth pepper and make him boil.
Dhalik al-yawm al-haqq – that is without the true day.
There is no way out of it now. As He said to Say. Nuh and his son. You have no way out now. What shaytan whispered in your ear? I told you something or shaytan told you something.
There are people very stubborn. They need a hammer. A sledgehammer. Now they don’t use sledgehammer. They use a crane with a big wrecking ball, to knock down big buildings.
Whey are you following shaytan. Come to me. Ya ibadilladheena dhalamu ala anfusihim. But repent. Quarreling, fighting. Never resting. Now human beings never rest now. Countries, citizens, homes, families, everyone has something. And now more than that shaytan came with internet. And spamming and bringing a lot of different stuff from everywhere. And now they are accessible for all these naked movies on the internet.
Every child and every home has access to the internet. When his father and other sleep, he goes and opens internet, and jumping on these bad things there.
The adults are worse because they know how to go deeper in these pictures and staying up to fajr playing games on internet. Then adhan is called they go to bed, not praying even. And they are fasting. That is the day of truth.
“So whoever will seek a way in this worldly life.”
This is the right day, you cannot now come out of it. It is written for you. Like black night and daylight. How are you going to run from what the two angels have written.
Another meaning, that the ruh and angels do not speak, except permission and that means they will witness what you have done from good and evil. This is the day of truth. Are we reaching the day of truth or not? Yes. So what do we have to do.
Say. Umar said, “If tomorrow is not better than yesterday then it is better for me to be underground.”
Faman sha’ attakhadha ila rabbihi ma’aba. – by taking a way to Allah and obeying Him. how to obey him – obey his Prophet. And most important, first thing I heard from my Shaykh and grandshaykh – keeping discipline of keeping the anger down.
I remember 1957, we went to Grandshaykh, he was saying, “al-ghadabu kufr” – anger is unbelief. Keep your anger down. In your family keep it down. If upset or have a problem usrrender. But if you go and fight and fight, like a rooster. Man is a rooster and women is a chicken.
Woman has her high level that Allah gave her. And man as well. No need for confrontation that is the way of awliya. Rabia al-`adawawiyya and men. Did we promise on day of promises to come to earth to fight or to worship.
Take your way to Allah. If you don’t want to take a way to your lord, go to hell then. No problem. Follow shaytan. Shaytan is going to be king of the firewood. And he is gong to be pleased when he burns you. This is your end in hellfire. He is pleased, for he did something an pulled your leg in with him. don’t let shaytan to pull your leg. Shaytan’s adhab is when human beings don’t listen to him. that is his biggest adhab. Big rahma for us is when we listen to Allah.
Ayat 40 suraat an-naba.

“we have warned you of a near torment.” Why does Allah say this? It means the quraysh who were idol-worshippers and the unbelievers, were not believing there is a resurrection day and that they will be revived from the graves and they denied the day of judgment. So Allah warned them here, saying ‘near torment’ . he did not say a far torment. When Allah says near, it means a few years. It is not going to be millions of years, as people are planning and thinking and saying, that there are millions to come or millions of years have passed before on earth. Allah swt said, “ a near torment” and He said in Surat al-qamr ‘the Day approached and the moon split’.
Adhaaban qareeba – a heavy punishment coming soon. It is the punishment of akhira. When they do not believe, He sends on them this kind of punishment. That means the most difficult kind of punishment you can imagine. What is the greatest punishment in that time: when someone is burned. Is that not the worst kind of punishment. What is mentioned in quran , repeatedly. Hellfire. And hellfire burns you. That is the biggest and heaviest punishment you can have in your life.
And subhanallah today they are cremating people.
From all prophets and with all their religions, which Islam wrapped up together, the prophets were warning, O people be careful of hellfire. And today we see that people are burning them in dunya. And when they burn them they become ashes. That is in dunya. But in akhira that is different. They are burned to ashes. Then they are revived again, then they are burned again. Forever. Ahqaaba. For ages.
They think it is a very far day but in fact it is a very near day. They say “dunya is going on for many years.” And muslims also say the same, that dunya is going to last a long time.
But allah is saying ‘a near torment’. Lam yalbithu ill `asheeyatin aw duhaaha.’ They did not stay in it more than a night or a day. He brings day from night and he brings night from day. That is how near it is – like the day turning to night. If they think it is far, Allah says ‘it is near’. So whom do we believe: the mushrikeen who say it is far, or Allah who says it is so near.
Yawm yanthurul maru ma qadama yadayhi wa yaqul ul-kaafireen ya laytanee kuntu turaaba.
That is the day when people will see the deed which his hands have sent forth. Mumin and kaafir. That is the day for everyone. We hope Allah will write us to be from mumins. Mumins are going to be happy with their good deeds and the forgiveness of Allah by shafa of the Prophet. But the disbeliever will say, “woe to me, would that I were dust.” – I wish that Allah swt did not create me and did not bring me to dunya and did not ask me to do anything. He will wish he had never existed from the fear of that day.
Allah swt on that day will bring all living creatures and will judge between the animals even. Then after judging between them, He makes them dust. When the kaafir sees this, he will wish to be like them. If a wolf ate a chicken Allah will take punishment on the wolf for eating it without permission. If an eagle ate a bird, He will give punishment to the eagle for harming the bird. It means every creature will be judged. But when he judges animals, he does not punish them, but makes them dust. If allah judged the animals like this, how is he going to judge us. He is going to throw the disbelievers in hellfire and we as mumins hope he will save us.
You – how many years have you spent in darkness. What have we done in our lives. O Allah forgive us. Allah swt will give everyone his right o the judgment day. Even iblees, who disbelieed in Allah and disobeyed will see Adam and his children and what Allah gave them and he will be afraid, remembering how he said, “khalaqtanee min narin wa khalaqtanee min teen. La-aghweeanahum ajma`een.” Even he, will wish Allah had not created him and made him to do wrong.
The mumins of jinn will be judged by Allah just as He judges mankind and the jinn have their own places and their own paradises. As for unbelievers from humans and jinn, maradat al-jinn, Allah will send them to eternal punishment.
It si said, by many scholars, that when a mumin makes a sajda, the place where he places his head, the forehead on the ground, the floor or dust in the past times, the verse “ya laytanee kuntu turaaba”, the dust of the sajda of he believer, with it Allah will extinguish the hellfire. That is why it is recommended to change places each time you pray, your sunnah, your fard, etc. that judge is going to be present on the jd, that dust will be sufficient to extinguish the fire which comes against the mumin. Even the dust on which you stand when you pray, will also be very precious and save bani adam on judgment day. Wherever your body touches on the ground on dust, knees,forehead, feet and hands, that turab will become like dust that will witness that you have prayed. So scholars say that the kaafir will be wishing to give all his wealth in dunya, for a piece of the dust of the mumin he would do so.
i.e. if all the kuffaar will come together with al ltheir wealth, they would sacrifice it easily for one handful of the dust of the prayer of a believer.
Rawa abi ibn k`ab… man qara `ama sa`aloon … on the day of judgement Allah will give him the coolest of drinks on the day when there is not shade and in the heat of jd. On that day Allah will quench your thirst with the coolest of drinks for anyone who recites this sura.
Abi ad-darda said that the Prophet (s) said, “learn surat an-naba and learn surat qaf wal-quran il-majeed and surat.. and surat al-buruj and at-tariq, for if you knew what was in these different suras, you would have left all this dunya work to go and learn them and approach Allah by these suras. By these suras Allah will forgive every sin except shirk.”
Say. Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) said, “O Prophet of Allah |I am seeing your hair becoming white quickly.” Qaala shayyibatnee hud, wal-waqi`a, wal mursalaat, an-naba, wash-shams.”
That is emphasizing that to stop and learn these suras is enough for us. And still we are running after dunya and nonsense. If Say. Muhammad was afraid, what about us.
Ana sayyida waladi Adam .. kuntu nabiyyin wa adam bayyin al-ma’I wat-teen. If the Prophet who has all this sharif, what abou t us – he hair became white.
It is not the dunya. Businesses, work. But remember tht there is akhira. So put one leg here and one leg there.
Only coming for praying, one or two or three and running. Whatever you do for dunya has to be for akhira also.
And it is said that whoever learns these suras, if you cannot memorize them and read them and learn their meanings. Not to go thru them. We read them in English “woe to me would that I were dust.” You pass thru it as if is a story bein gtodl. That is not enough. You have to learn what is the meaning. Now if you open the quran explanations of today. You don’t find these kind of explanations that are here today from ruh al-bayan or ruh al-ma`ani. From 500 years ago.
The new commentaries are all about revolution and banking system and social life all nonsense that does not benefit us. They don’t go into this dep explanation of holy quran. That is why people read these today and it covers the outward meaning but it deos not give them the deeper meaning. They are obeying to read it but not going deep to understand.
If the prophet’s hair was becoming white, what about us. Our all hairs must become white and we must go out of our minds from fear. When we think about Allah’s warning then you have to be worried.
It said that and it is like a nice metaphor: whoever learns these suras must learn their meaning; when he learns the meaning and the black hair becomes white, he must be in a station of worry and fear. When someone is always in that station, as someone who is in love, he does not eat. If his parents don’t let him marry the boy or girl he desires, he will lose his appetite and become lean. Those who are in such fear from reciting these verses, the imam if he is not slim, don’t pray behind him – it means he is eating too much and he is fearing it, over Allah swt. He wants to fil his stomach to become fat, that means he has no fear of akhira, for he has not stress of akhira.
That is a joke at the end of the tafsir.
Imam Shafi`I, never a fat person was successful. They asked him why? He said, “because someone who has mind has two characteristics in front of him: either he has to be worried about his akhira and his state in meeting his lord or he has to think about his dunya and his sustenance and how to build the fat in his body.”
That is the problem of today. People are satisfying their desires. It is not the fat of the body meant here, but the fat of the ego. People becoming arrogant, the ego expanding and expanding like a peacock or like a balloon. You blow it and it becomes fat, but not fat with food, but fat with air. Imam shafi`I means here don’t run after dunya to build the bad desires of the ego. If that person is going to forget about his akhira he will be considered from animals he will never be considered from human beings. That is because akhira is for eternal life. Animals never think of eternal life. Unbelievers do not think of akhira.
Say. Ali said, “work foryour dunya as if you live forever, but work for akhira as if you are going to die tomorrow.” It means progress in dunya it is ok, but keep akhira in mind closely.
This is the end of surat an-naba, may allah save us from hellfire by the baraka of that sura.
